The fourth episode of Season 2 of "FUBAR" kicks off with the gang aboard a plane, en route back to the Safehouse. Director Reed discreetly pulls Emma aside and unveils a bombshell: a thorough search of Dot’s abode has uncovered incriminating documents that suggest Luke and Greta’s relationship during the Cold War was not only inappropriate but possibly treasonous. Reed assigns Emma a covert mission: to keep a watchful eye on her father and ensure he stays within the boundaries. Completing this task could very well propel her career to new heights.
Meanwhile, Farkas sits in custody, marking him as their next objective. However, a startling revelation interrupts their plans: Luke has been administered SP-117, the latest super-truth serum on the block. This potion forces honesty but erases all recollections of what was divulged under its influence. Worst of all, this means Greta is now privy to the locations of all four power plants.
Upon returning to her safehouse, Greta discovers her former associate and friend, Felipe, brutally killed by Dante Cress, with an explosive collar as the lethal tool. This grim spectacle serves as a stark reminder of Cress’s control over her, yet she remains wise enough not to defy him.
Luke strategizes, deciding they must intercept Greta before she figures out how to dismantle the plants. He believes he’s pinpointed the perfect leverage to make Chips talk – Norm. Ironically, Norm is already acquainted with Chips, sharing a past that binds them. Torture holds no sway over Chips; he’s unbreakable.
Yet, Chips is open to negotiation. In exchange for divulging the locations of two plants, he seeks refuge until the storm passes. With wires tapping into their conversation, Chips reveals that the Sun Star Solar Farm in New Mexico and the Carson Hydroelectric Dam in Colorado are the targets.
Meanwhile, Farkas finds himself under scrutiny by the CIA regarding the funds, which he confessionally acknowledges as stolen from forsaken criminal accounts, subsequently laundered through the clever sale of collectibles. However, he reveals that every penny was funneled back into the CIA's coffers through a covert slush fund, serving as silent support for their covert missions. The financial trail meticulously corroborates his claims, yet he casts aspersions on Tina, suspecting her meddling in Dot's office as a source of genuine concern—a sentiment not echoed by his peers.
Back at the Safehouse, tensions escalate between Tally and Luke during their therapy session, delving into the complexities of their bond intertwined with Greta. Dr. P, observing their strained interaction, concludes with a heavy heart that their relationship has reached its expiration date.
Outside the therapy room, Carter's embarrassment knows no bounds as Donnie proudly showcases his humorous comic strip. Amusing indeed, the strip takes a rather uncharitable jab at Aldon, circulating widely on the internet. Alarmingly, it inadvertently reveals the Safehouse's location and its vicinity, potentially explaining how their hideout was so swiftly discovered.
A graver concern arises from Carter's self-imposed persona as a super spy. Emma interrogates him about this new avatar, prompting Carter to confess his feelings of inadequacy when compared to other men in her sphere—Chips and Aldon, in particular. His admission comes on the heels of his recent cowardice, hiding in a confessional booth during the climactic shootout. He acknowledges his enduring love for Emma, yet his ego has been an insurmountable obstacle.
Downstairs, the team receives grim news: Greta has struck an industrial sump pump wholesaler, foreshadowing dire consequences. She now commands control of a military satellite, her intentions clear—to strike a nearby power plant, plunging the area into darkness and chaos.
In the midst of the unfolding drama, Farkas calls Luke, unveiling damning details about Tina that he has meticulously uncovered—numerous cash discrepancies that raise eyebrows. Yet, Luke turns a deaf ear to his revelations. Meanwhile, Emma harbors suspicions that her father has been influenced by Greta, a notion Roo finds far-fetched but nevertheless supports, urging Emma to persist in her inquiry, just in case there's a kernel of truth to it.
However, the pressing matter at hand revolves around averting the impending satellite crash. The team dashes to Cotto Space Force Base, determined to requisition a space shuttle to intercept the errant satellite. Their ingenious plan unfolds seamlessly, with one notable exception: Barry finds himself unexpectedly propelled into the vast expanse of space aboard the shuttle. This unforeseen twist was certainly not covered in the operation manual!
