Published: May 31 2024

Episode 2 of the first season of "Furies" opens with a thrilling introduction to a shadowy world, as The Fury escorts Lyna into the criminal underworld of Paris. They arrive at a secluded greenhouse, a forbidding venue where the world's most powerful criminal overlords convene. Among them are The Californian, The Trans, Fehma, Mama, and the notorious K Brothers, all vassals surrounding the main criminal table. But one figure is conspicuously absent: The Jelly, a mysterious and pivotal character whose absence ignites intrigue.

As The Fury enters the chamber alone, Lyna is left outside in the capable hands of The Fixer, who warns her of the deadly consequences of crossing this dangerous cabal. While they exchange whispers, another shadowy figure emerges - Mr. Parques, the head of the underworld's assassins, a fearsome presence whose brutality is soon demonstrated when he savagely berates a worker and brutally breaks his fingers. Caught in the crossfire, Lyna intervenes, unaware that she has just stumbled into a perilous situation.

Furies – Season 1 Episode 2 1

Suddenly, The Jelly appears, delivering a macabre package to The Fury - a gruesome revelation that turns stomachs. The package contains The Jelly himself, brutally dismembered. This shocking discovery narrows the list of suspects but leaves no doubt that one of the shadowy figures seated around the table is responsible for this heinous crime.

Selma, aka The Fury, comes to Lyna's rescue, and together they embark on a grisly investigation, examining the remains of The Jelly. Unable to stomach the grisly task, Lyna retreats to Elie's abode for the night. However, a careless mistake by Elie - turning off her alarm - results in Lyna being late for her meeting with Selma. This inadvertent oversight marks a pivotal moment in Lyna's life, as she embarks on a new journey: one that will transform her into a trained Fury, much like her mentor. But their mission is twofold: not only must they solve the mystery of who killed Darius and The Jelly, but they must also navigate the dangerous underworld of Paris to do so.

In their investigation of The Jelly's murder, they discover CCTV footage showing him leaving Mama's brothel with a mysterious girl. This clue sets them on a new trail, leading them to Mamaland - a realm where Mama reigns with an iron fist. Posing as one of Mama's new recruits, Lyna infiltrates the brothel, determined to uncover the identity of the girl.

Alone in the heart of Mamaland, Lyna must navigate a maze of secrets and lies to reach her goal. She eventually manages to gain access to the brothel's archive, a repository of hidden truths. But her search is fraught with difficulty - the archive contains numerous files, each containing the details of a different girl, locked away in a vast filing cabinet. Finding the girl who left with The Jelly is like searching for a needle in a haystack, a daunting task that tests Lyna's resolve and cunning to the limit.

When Mama finally returns, she rummages through her office, blissfully unaware of Lyna's secret antics. Meanwhile, Lyna slips back into her spot among the other girls, her heart pounding but her face a mask of calm. The tension mounts when one of the guards is discovered unconscious outside, providing Lyna with a precious opportunity. She seizes the chance to gather the crucial details she needs and makes a dash for freedom.

For a tense moment, it seems like she might escape unnoticed. But her luck runs out when she ducks into a mascot costume for cover... and is immediately hit by a car. Shockingly, it's the cop, Keïta, who had initially arrested her. She sternly warns Lyna to back off from her investigation, revealing that the only way to retrieve the stolen documents is to work for her.

As Lyna grapples with the mess she's found herself in, The Fixer sneaks around Elie's place, nonchalantly dodging the cop while wearing earphones and dancing around the apartment. He also scouts out Lyna's mother's house, stumbling upon childhood photos that could hold the key to solving the mystery.

Remember Orso? The casino guy? He tracks down Lyna and confronts her that night, but she stands her ground, refusing to be intimidated. The next morning, however, Selma - whose real name is Asma - is waiting for her. Asma leads Lyna to a junkyard where her father is being held captive, and a violent confrontation erupts.

Their target is a caravan hidden at the far end of the yard, which contains schematics for a key to a safe. This is intricate goldsmith work, and apparently, "only geniuses can do it." It's revealed that Asma's father was abducted and forced to work on these schematics, explaining both his disappearance and Asma's involvement with The Jelly. As the drama unfolds, the stakes are raised higher, and Lyna must use all her wits to navigate this dangerous game.

Regrettably, The Fixer relentlessly regurgitates all the crucial information Fury requires to coerce Lyna into compliance. She mercilessly exploits Lyna's attachment to Elie, even daring to threaten his life, promising to dispose of him in a manner reminiscent of "Lady Di style" if she fails to adhere to the plan. Matters are further complicated by her repeated encounters with Keita, plunging Lyna into an increasingly precarious situation.

When Lyna's path crosses with Elie again, he enthusiastically proposes an escape to a luxurious hotel, dreaming of a blissful time together. However, Lyna's heart is heavy with the knowledge that his life hangs precariously in the balance. She cannot bear the thought of him becoming collateral damage, and so, with tears streaming down her face, Lyna severs their ties, leaving the bar abruptly while Fury's henchman watches on, a somber expression etched on his face.

In a post-credit sequence, a chilling revelation unfolds as The Fixer appears beside a graveside...a graveside that bears the name of Lyna. Oh, the horror.
