The search for the ultimate He-Man in the upcoming "Masters of the Universe" movie has finally come to an end, with Nicholas Galitzine stepping into the role. The rising star, who recently stole hearts in Amazon MGM's romantic comedy "The Idea of You," has been cast in this live-action adaptation, helmed by director Travis Knight.
Knight will bring to life a script penned by Chris Butler, while a star-studded production team, led by Mattel Films' Robbie Brenner and Escape Artists' Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch, will oversee the project.
"Masters of the Universe" revolves around Prince Adam of Eternia, a hero who transforms into the powerful and mighty He-Man, armed with his signature Power Sword. Possessed with superhuman strength and abilities, He-Man valiantly defends his homeworld and the sacred Castle Grayskull.
The highly anticipated film has been slated for a worldwide theatrical release on June 5, 2026, by Amazon.
Mattel's iconic "Masters of the Universe" franchise first captivated imaginations in 1982 with its line of action figures and later became a household name with the beloved animated series "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" in 1983. The journey to bring this storied franchise to the big screen has been a long and winding one, with the project shifting from Sony to Netflix and finally landing at Amazon MGM, attracting a string of filmmakers and actors over the years.
