Furies – Season 1 Episode 4

Published: May 31 2024

Episode 4 of Furies kicks off with a captivating glimpse into the rich history of the Furies, tracing its roots back to 1976. The fate of a Fury is often fraught with blood and gore, and Driss Arago's demise behind the wheel was no exception, leaving behind a gruesome trail.

In this world, it's the women who are tasked with tidying up the mess left by the men, and these two are determined to figure out how to do it. Selma quickly reminds Lyna that she must earn the mantle of The Fury before she can claim it. Lyna knows she has to prove herself, and her first stop is Fehim.

However, Fehim brushes off Lyna's inquiries, dismissing himself as a mere pawn in the game and claiming he has nothing worth investing in. He opts to remain neutral, believing it's in his best interests. But Orso, sent by Parques to assassinate Lyna before she usurps Selma at the top of the Fury hierarchy, is not so easily swayed.

Selma and Lyna soon realize that there's more to Fehim than meets the eye and decide to court his favor, hoping he can be their eyes and ears. He sends cryptic messages to his men and has messengers scattered everywhere, keeping himself well-informed. Lyna's task is to track down Fehim's hideout, and to do so, she follows his messengers around the city.

Despite locating the hideout with ease, they discover it's a maze of bells and ropes rigged across the entire parking lot. The chances of sneaking in unnoticed are slim, so they abandon their plan and search for an alternative route.

Meanwhile, Lyna faces her own set of challenges as Keita invades Elie's apartment, causing a stir. She threatens to plant drugs on Elie and send him to prison unless she gets what she wants, adding yet another layer of complexity to the already tense situation.

As Lyna departs, Elie catches sight of her and eagerly pursues her through the bustling city streets, all the way to the doorstep of her apartment. As she hurriedly ascends the stairs, unaware of the danger lurking ahead, Elie sneaks into the neighboring apartment building, eager to catch a glimpse of Lyna's abode. Inside, Orso is waiting patiently in Lyna's room, with murderous intent in his eyes, ready to strike. Yet Elie remains unseen, clinging to the shadows, as he watches helplessly from afar, hoping to uncover the truth behind the looming threat.

In the heat of their argument, Lya leans in and kisses him passionately, suddenly transforming the tense moment into an intimate embrace. As they both shed their clothes and prepare to unite in love, Elie walks in and witnesses them entwining their bodies in a tender embrace.

As the drama unfolded, Selma pieced together the puzzle, realizing that the bullets used to slay the Jelly were manufactured by the same shadowy figures who had attempted to assassinate Olympus. The Fixer, a keen observer of the situation, pointed out to Selma that she had been responsible for the demise of Lyna's biological family, hinting at a deeper conspiracy lurking beneath the surface. He cautioned The Fury not to let her vigilance falter in the wake of Lyna and Driss's demise.

Meanwhile, Elie gathered Lyna's belongings and set his sights on the hospital. Although he failed to locate Lyna's mother, he stumbled upon telltale signs of violence - splatters of blood and a bullet hole, both of which triggered alarm bells in his mind. He mulled over the Laundry basket clue, attempting to decode the sequence of events.

That fateful night, Selma and Lyna stealthily made their way to Fehim's hideout, navigating a treacherous path to its heart. Along the way, Lyna's world was shattered as she learned the truth about her birth father's fate. It transpired that Selma had not, in fact, killed him that fateful night in the club (a memory that echoed back to the opening scenes of episode 1) but had instead secreted him away, locking him up in the bowels of a prison.

After the startling revelation, the news arrives that Fehim is approaching. In a bid to buy some precious time, Selma boldly confronts him outdoors, while discretely peering into the van's interior at the array of files stacked within. Among the chaos of messages, one stands out, disclosing the critical detail of an unmarked truck laden with weapons scheduled to arrive on Thursday, the 22nd, at 11 pm. This is their quarry, potentially the coup they've been seeking, and Lyna quickly snaps photos of everything in sight.

Unfortunately, the moment is shattered by a message from Keita, who tauntingly sends a video revealing Elie's arrest for drugs found in his locker. Lyna attempts to negotiate, but it's evident she holds no leverage. In the distraction, the masked man from earlier emerges, demanding Lyna surrender her message. She refuses, but he retaliates by detonating the van, obliterating all evidence of their investigation.

Fehim has been secretly recording all his private conversations with the various Godfathers over the years. Now, as the van explodes into flames with its windows blown out, scraps of paper float out the windows, lazily descending to the streets like confetti from a shattered dream.

The Godfathers arrive to pass judgment on Fehim. Without hesitation, they unanimously vote for his death, using him as a grisly example to quell any dissent among them.

That night, Lyna returns to Selma, confirming she's found what she needed... but refusing to play by their rules. She's aware that the police are closing in on her, and her situation is precarious. Determined, she vows to find her father while simultaneously safeguarding her loved ones.

As the episode draws to a close, Selma visits Lyna's father in prison. He, too, refuses to cooperate and assures her that the truth will eventually come to light. But the drama isn't over yet; Parques, in a fit of rage, stabs Orso for refusing to play ball, adding another layer of chaos to this already tumultuous situation.
