Furies – Season 1 Episode 6

Published: May 31 2024

Episode 6 of Furies kicks off with three devastating words that have upended Lyna's world: "Driss killed Selma." With Selma's demise, the mantle of Fury falls squarely on Lyna's shoulders, and she's determined to fulfill the promise she made. The war is raging, and Lyna is ready to take the fight to the heart of Olympus, splitting the gang at its core.

Papou is devastated by the news, but Lyna refuses to lie down and take it. She rallies him to join her in seeking revenge against those who have wronged them. As they negotiate a plan, the violence spills over into the K Brothers' compound. Driss leads his men in a show of force, laying down the law with brute strength.

Now, in the absence of Selma, Lyna stands as the new Fury, whether the powers that be in the office like it or not. The Fixer, particularly, is skeptical of her appointment and distrustful of her intentions.

Furies – Season 1 Episode 6 1

Lyna leads the team to the Duke's Town House, where she attempts to broker a deal with him. She proposes using his weed as bait to lure Driss into a trap. The Duke, however, is unmoved, refusing her offer. But Lyna is not easily discouraged.

She holds her own against the Duke, even managing to uncover the mole working with Driss among them. The Duke captures him and marvels at how well Selma trained her protégée. "Don't disappoint me," he warns as Lyna braces herself for the upcoming ambush.

A knock at the door brings not Driss but the K Brothers, who arrive to deliver an account of the latest developments. They, too, refuse to acknowledge Lyna as the new Fury and challenge her, leaving a dead body as a warning.

It seems that all of this is part of Parques's grand scheme, as he eyes the mantle of Fury with greedy ambition. But being a Fury is a cursed fate, ending in bloodshed, as Lyna's father warned her in a video shown to her by Driss.

Driss himself demonstrates his ruthlessness, sending a chilling video to Olympus and executing a group of loyalists in cold blood. They debate how to counter this threat and devise a plan to destroy Driss, believing he has returned from the dead. They decide to enlist Parques's help, thinking he's the only one capable of taking on this role.

While the drama unfolded, Driss engaged Lyna in conversation, urging her not to oppose him. She was currently free to be whoever she wished, but he warned that if she persisted on her current path, the outcome would not be favorable. Standing on the opposite side of bulletproof glass, he attempted to persuade her to unite with him, yet Lyna responded by slamming the glass repeatedly until it shattered.

Observing scratches on one of Driss' men's faces, Lyna concluded that Selma was still alive and sending them a cryptic message. Given that we had not witnessed her corpse, her assumption seemed plausible. Later in the episode, this revelation was confirmed as it transpired that Driss had indeed kept Selma captive in his chamber. However, his plans were interrupted by his henchmen, who informed him that Parques had slaughtered all of his men. Worse still, rumors began to swirl that Olympus was poised to appoint Parques as the official Fury.

This was all a calculated ploy to elevate him to a position of power, and unfortunately, it played into his hands perfectly. They had entrusted their worst enemy with the mantle of the Fury. As Parques made his exit, he was spotted by Lyna, who aimed her gun at him. However, he turned his back, and Orso, now working for Parques, lunged at her, stabbing her repeatedly in the stomach... or did he? It turned out that he had actually stabbed himself, and as Parques drew closer, Orso attempted a sneaky attack.

It failed to land, but it bought Lyna enough time to shoot him in the neck. Parques was hit in the neck and bled out before he could utter a word. It transpired that the Godfathers had actually handed Parques a proverbial smoking gun. Their closely guarded secret was an armored train that constantly moved through the underground, harboring more money than the Bank of France itself - the "key to the mine".

Armed with this knowledge, Lyna decided to broker a deal and lure Driss out of hiding, all while positioning Selma's men in a strategic location where she could rely on them. When Driss emerged into the open courtyard, Lyna handed over the key in exchange for Selma's whereabouts. The twist was that Driss was prepared for this scenario... but Lyna was equally prepared. She had summoned the police and earlier called for reinforcements, which arrived in the form of the Paris PD, accompanied by Elie, who had the honor of placing handcuffs on her. The irony was that Selma was already imprisoned, and now Driss was too, leaving the fate of everything hanging in the balance.

As the episode drew to a close, an operation was set in motion behind the scenes to eliminate Lyna. The Godfathers contacted someone named Damocles to carry out their dirty work. Meanwhile, Orso returned to Parques and his men, who appeared ready for a new mission - to attack the armored transport.
