The opening scene of Episode 1 in Season 2 of "Gannibal" finds the Morobe police and SWAT team encircling Kuge amidst a raging inferno, necessitating the urgent intervention of firefighters to venture into the village. The narrative then seamlessly transitions back 24 hours, picking up right where the Season 1 finale left off.
In a gripping, bloody battle for survival, Daigo engages in a fierce struggle with That Man, the cannibalistic adversary who even dares to take a chunk out of the policeman. Despite this harrowing ordeal, Daigo manages to break free and flee for his life.
Elsewhere, at the hotel, a deceitful impersonator of Agent Goto plots to terminate Takeshi and Sendo. The situation grows perilously tense, but fortunately, with Yuki's swift assistance, the officers manage to neutralize the threatening imposter.
Back at the precinct, the team readies for a daring rescue mission to save Daigo and the children. The Chief casts a wary eye on Kanemaru, suspecting him of goading Daigo into returning to Kuge alone. Kanemaru protests his innocence, insisting that he desires only one thing. Just then, Mayor Goto Kiyoshi arrives, adding another layer of complexity to the situation.
In a separate development, Kano Sumire leaves a voice message for Keisuke, informing him of her intentions to head to Kuge and arranging to meet at their clandestine hideaway.
Meanwhile, Keisuke confronts Yosuke, accusing him of being the snitch. Yosuke vehemently denies having revealed any information to Daigo. However, Keisuke remains unforgiving, citing Yosuke's attempted rescue of the "livestock" children as unacceptable. This confrontation stirs deep emotions in Yosuke, who wonders if his brother truly subscribes to Gin's ideology that labels anyone who isn't a Goto as mere livestock. Keisuke's harsh words push Yosuke away, leaving him to reflect on his mother's failed attempt to flee with baby Kyosuke. In this moment of introspection, Yosuke comes to understand her perspective but laments his own lack of courage.
At the precinct, Mayor Kiyoshi shares with the Chief a nostalgic tale of how he and Officer Kano had bonded three years prior at the votive festival, their conversation abruptly halted by the arrival of the squad, who report from the desolate mine. With a wave of his hand, the Chief dismisses them, allowing Kiyoshi to continue his narrative. He expresses his desire to bring an end to the Gotos' reign and casually reveals that the third satellite phone actually belongs to him.
A vivid flashback transports us to the morning of Kano’s tragic demise, when Kiyoshi discovers the children. He hastily dials Kano, who decides to confront the Gotos head-on. Kiyoshi offers him words of encouragement, while Sumire, puzzled, wonders about her father's urgency. Meanwhile, in the present, the inquisitive Sabu catches sight of Sumire at the Kuge Police Station and promptly makes a call to an undisclosed contact.
In the dense woods, Daigo struggles to conceal his presence, but his blood, like a trail of crimson breadcrumbs, betrays him, leading That Man relentlessly in pursuit.
Returning to the precinct, the Chief reproaches Kiyoshi for his earlier inaction. The Mayor sneers, dismissing the police's capabilities against the mighty Gotos. He confessionally laments that his own family has been ostracized since his wife, Ai, fled with Kyosuke. Kiyoshi bitterly recounts how the Gotos merely used them as pawns to perpetuate their bloodline, and he harbors a deep resentment towards his sons for still adhering to Gin's ideologies, despite her demise.
The scene shifts to Keisuke, who listens intently to a voice message from Sumire. His mind wanders, and he hallucinates his grandmother, Gin, her voice eerie and commanding, urging him to let Sumire bear his child.
Chaos reigns as Goto Sadamu orchestrates the return of Goto Kuroe, a young woman who had eloped with a lover. Kuroe's anxiety over her boyfriend grows as Sadamu attempts to assault her, seeing it as a disciplinary measure to teach her a harsh lesson. Keisuke intervenes, revealing a widespread disdain for Sadamu and his family branch. Iwao, though backing Keisuke's claim as the family patriarch, wears a discontented expression.
Elsewhere, Ai feels a sudden dizzy spell, prompting Kyosuke to apologize for revisiting their painful past. She acknowledges his correctness and emphasizes the urgency to rescue the children. He inquires why she left her sons behind, to which she replies that her desire for revenge consumes her, leaving no room for maternal love.
A haunting flashback unveils Gin silently observing as "That Man" rapes Ai. Presently, Ai confides that she was also considered livestock, bred in the mine solely for consumption. Her life was devoid of parental love or affection until Gin adopted her. Another memory unfolds, showing a hooded Gin having a change of heart and raising Ai to perpetuate their bloodline. Ai gives birth to Keisuke, "That Man's" son, whom Gin views as her heir apparent. In a moment of joy, a young Kiyoshi and Ai celebrate the honor they have bestowed upon their family.
In the present tense, Kiyoshi confesses his ignorance about the truth surrounding his sons. He blames the family curse, embodied by "That Man," and desperately pleas with the police to destroy him.
In the woods, Daigo employs his bloody jacket as a deceptive tactic to lure "That Man." With a rock, Daigo strikes his head, yet the blow is insufficient. To evade being consumed, Daigo retreats and accidentally tumbles off a cliff.
The epilogue of Gannibal Season 2 Episode 1 depicts Daigo being rescued by Munechika from the river. They take refuge in the sacred ground where sacrifices are held – Kurunokami Shrine. The village priest unveils that cannibalism originated from dire starvation. Munechika also knows the whereabouts of the children and someone has entrusted him with the task of informing Daigo.
The scene shifts to Sendo driving Yuki and Mashiro to a safe haven. They breathe a sigh of relief over their narrow escape, until Sadamu collides with their vehicle. Bloodied but smiling, he emerges, dragging the Agawa women out.
