Episode 2 of "Gannibal" kicks off with the grand opening ceremony of the votive festival, where the atmosphere is charged with anticipation. The Gotos navigate through the dense crowd, their presence casting a sinister shadow over the sacred ritual. Meanwhile, Iwao and Makoto exchange puzzled glances, wondering about the absence of Keisuke.
Old Kamiyama formally introduces his grandson, Munechika, as his designated heir, his voice resonating with authority. As Kamiyama steps aside, he queries Gin about the efficacy of his performance, his eyes piercing through the veil of formality.
Elsewhere, Keisuke discovers Sumire slumbering in their secluded hideaway. His heart heavy, he urges her to terminate their unborn child and sever all ties with him. He pretends to threaten her life, but she sees right through his facade, her faith in their love unwavering. She yearns to escape with him, and he envelops her in a tender embrace, wishing with all his heart that they could flee together. Just then, Ryuji and a couple of Gotos burst in, their arrival heralding trouble.
Thanks to Sabu's keen instincts, they had been trailing Sumire and overheard their conversation. Keisuke claims that he never intended to tarnish their lineage but now intends to marry Sumire and make her a Goto. Iwao remains skeptical, but the others hastily offer their congratulations to the couple.
At this crucial juncture, Kanemaru arrives with a SWAT team, acting on a tip that the Gotos possess a cache of unregistered firearms. The scene shifts to Yuki and Mashiro, who are being held captive somewhere within the Goto estate. Keisuke remains composed as the officers meticulously inspect each rifle, only to find that they are all legally registered. However, this is merely a pretext to search the property for any "hidden weapons."
Makato, seething with rage, lunges at Kanemaru with intent to attack, but Keisuke intervenes swiftly, halting his advance. Makato is convinced that they must engage in battle and set a precedent. Keisuke, however, disagrees, casting a shadow of doubt over Makato's mind. Meanwhile, Sumire, a silent observer of their altercation, is caught by an elderly figure.
The ancient woman whispers tales of a bygone era, revealing how, seventy years prior, the Gotos clashed with the villagers, forcing them to abandon their homeland. Ever since, the Goto clan has thrived, their strength unwavering as long as their bloodline persists. Their legacy, she claims, is eternal.
Kanemaru's apparent enjoyment of the situation irritates Ryuji, who puzzles over his ultimate motive. Iwao's sharp eyes notice Daigo's absence, realizing it as a strategic distraction. Flashbacks flood Daigo's mind, revisiting his conversation with Munechika, the priest who disclosed Keisuke's plea: to rescue the children and bring an end to the festive madness.
The children are sheltered at Jin's store, perched atop Mount Kuge, and it is here that Daigo makes his way. Inside, Nishimura, Sabu, and Jin frantically attempt to conceal the kids from Kanako, whose ears had inadvertently caught wind of their transfer plans. Daigo waits patiently for the Chief, who arrives with his team, and together they storm the store.
Simultaneously, Kanemaru's men fortify the sole exit from the Goto stronghold. Keisuke, endeavoring to halt Makoto's descent into violence, is powerless as Makoto fires upon an officer, triggering a bloodbath that awakens "That Man," a monstrous figure who unleashes a fury upon the SWAT team. Seizing the moment, the Gotos clash with the police in a hail of bullets, leaving Keisuke shell-shocked and spectators to the chaos.
As the cacophony of gunshots echoes, a woman's scream pierces the air, drawing Keisuke towards Sumire. Just as he prepares to shield her, Kiyoshi emerges, gun in hand, his presence adding another layer of peril to the tense tableau.
To bring an end to the Gotos' reign of terror, he must eliminate Keisuke and his unborn offspring. A fierce battle ensues, but Keisuke ultimately gains the upper hand, accusing him of perpetual malfeasance. Kiyoshi retorts with a mocking laugh, denying any kinship between them, revealing that Gin coerced him into a vasectomy to ensure Ai could only bear children with "That Man." Stunned, Keisuke confesses he's always been aware of his true paternal identity before unleashing his fury upon Kiyoshi, who is eventually pulled away by Sumire.
Outside, Ryuji brandishes Molotov cocktails, signaling doom for the SWAT team. As the Gotos pick off police officers one by one, Iwao personally sets his sights on Kanemaru. Yet, the cop merely chuckles as his radio blares the triumphant news of the successful rescue of the three "livestock" children.
At Jin's place, Kanako's heart shatters upon realizing one of the rescued kids resembles her. The police vow to conduct DNA tests and reunite the parents with their children, but the arrested male villagers only sneer in disdain. To everyone's shock, Yosuke's charge is indeed Kanako's son, while the other two belong to Jin and Nishimura. The officers are astounded, and Sabu, waxing eloquent about shared sorrow and the drastic lengths they've gone to protect their village from "That Man," is abruptly shot down.
The Gotos have arrived, riddling the store with bullets. Iwao commands Sadamu to spare the kids, but he refuses, noting they have a spare child for the sacrifice. Iwao and Kanemaru are left in disbelief as Makoto reveals his sinister plot—the kidnapping of Daigo's wife and daughter. Meanwhile, Yosuke, armed with a rifle and a face filled with terror, listens intently to the exchange from a distance.
Hidden beneath the floorboards, Yuki and Mashiro find themselves in peril, with a Goto woman pretending to be unconscious atop them to deceive the police. Makoto urges her to move and grabs Mashiro.
Back at Jin's, Nishimura flees, leaving Daigo with a solitary bullet. The Gotos cease their barrage, and a solitary figure enters the premises. In a cliffhanger ending to Gannibal Season 2 Episode 2, Daigo lunges towards the man, and a gunshot echoes through the air.
