Elsewhere, Dr. Cardoza and Indira enter Betsy's room, finding her coughing uncontrollably. The doctor briefs Indira on the virus's progress, urging her to finalize the reports for Vought. But Indira is not satisfied, insisting that they increase the dosage to see how far they can push her body.

As Cate's friends carry her to a room, she suddenly jolts awake and vanishes, leaving them in a disintegrating space. They stumble out, encountering a woman and a policeman shouting for Caleb. It's then that they realize they've been transported into Cate's mindscape. Inside her subconscious, they watch as Cate approaches her mother, only to be warned to keep her distance.

Just then, Soldier Boy materializes before them, his tone urgent. He warns them that unless they figure out what's happening soon, Cate may never return to them. He gestures to the sky, where thunder rumbles ominously, explaining that it's the sound of her blood vessels exploding. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning strikes them, and they are flung out of Cate's mind.

Meanwhile, Emma finds herself at the drive-in, where she unexpectedly encounters Sam. Despite both of them being novices in this realm, the atmosphere quickly charges with sexual tension. They surrender to the moment, embracing their desires and making love under the starlit sky.

The friends finally arrive at Cate's room, where her mother grudgingly grants Indira permission to visit her daughter. As they watch, Indira tenderly comforts Cate and offers her a few pills, hoping to silence the cacophony of sounds echoing in her mind. Suddenly, a startling transformation occurs. They are transported to a classroom, where Cate and Luke are seated, and it's the first time they've ever been friends.

Luke, eager to expose Andre's betrayal, plays a clip showing him intimately involved with Cate while she was still his girlfriend. Enraged, Luke aims his gun at Andre but misses his mark, accidentally striking Dusty instead. Horror washes over them as they realize their supernatural abilities have vanished.

In a panic, the friends flee the scene and scramble to Brink's office. As they arrive, Jordan strides in, just in time to eavesdrop on an argument brewing between Brink and Luke. Without hesitation, she lunges forward and slaps the mask onto Luke's face, rendering him unconscious. The friends are stunned to learn that Jordan chose to remain passive in the face of the chaos.

Elsewhere, Emma and Sam are enjoying a blissful moment together. However, Sam's joy is tempered by his belief that his hallucinations render him unworthy of Emma. She, however, is resolute, reassuring him that she wants nothing more than to be by his side. Sam suggests they flee together, seeking a new life away from their troubles. But Emma hesitates, claiming she knows someone who might be able to offer them help.

The friends stumbled into the dimly lit basement, only to find themselves trapped in its confines. Their gaze fell upon Luke and Sam, both unconscious, while Dr. Cardoza and Indira hovered over them, engaged in some unknown experiment. As Luke stirred, Cut Cate cautiously approached, erasing his memories and returning him to his slumber.

Suddenly, they materialized in Indira's sleek office, where she and Brink worked their charm on Cate, convincing her that her actions were solely aimed at assisting Luke. However, Indira's demeanor shifted abruptly, commanding Cate to erase their memories. They dashed for the exit, spotting a door that led to Marie's childhood bathroom.

Stepping inside, they were confronted by a gruesome sight - a blood-splattered bathroom and Marie's sister huddled in the corner. Marie reached out to her sister, but Annabeth shoved her away, accusing her of the horrors that had unfolded. Marie's gaze shifted, landing on Cate with fury, accusing her of contradicting her own words.

Unexpectedly, Cate appeared before them, offering them the chance to flee without her, hinting that she would remain a vegetative shell in the real world. Their hearts heavy, the friends pleaded with her to awaken and help them set things right. Their efforts were rewarded, as Cate emerged from her stupor, joining them in consciousness.

Just as they regained their bearings, Emma entered the room, accompanied by Sam. His gaze narrowed as he recognized Cate and the deeds she had committed. Without hesitation, he lunged at her, while the others scrambled to intervene. Emma stepped between them, pleading with Sam to trust her and let Cate go.

Their questions about Indira's intentions with the children imprisoned in the basement fell on deaf ears. Cate claimed ignorance, offering little insight into the mystery.

Meanwhile, the scene shifted to Dr. Cardoza, his voice urgent as he summoned Indira. He revealed a grim truth - Betsy had succumbed to an overdose of the virus. Indira's face lit up with a sinister smile, instructing him to make the virus contagious, setting the stage for an ominous climax in the final episode of Gen V.
