In the fourth episode of Gen V's second season, Hailey Miller's report reveals that Jordan has been untruthful about the altercation with Cate, a claim that Cate herself amplifies with a video of her own, claiming she was attacked by Starlighters and not Jordan. This revelation tarnishes Jordan's public image.
Jordan and Marie are summoned to Cipher's office, where they are introduced to Seth, the new marketing representative of God U. Cipher and Seth unveil their plan to use the incident as a publicity stunt, pitting the two superhumans against each other. Marie is tasked with using her powers to take down Jordan, but she refuses, citing her limitations. Cipher, in a stern tone, threatens to send Emma back to Elmira if they don't comply. In private, Marie discloses to Jordan that they have no other choice but to agree as they're still in the dark about Project Odessa and Cipher is their only possible ally.
Marie suggests enlisting Cate's help, who is dealing with her own issues involving Cipher. Jordan and Emma are hesitant but eventually agree. Later, Emma meets with Harper and Ally, where she also meets Ally's brother, Greg. She implores the trio to join forces in attempting to sabotage the fight between Marie and Jordan as a form of protest.
Meanwhile, Marie and Jordan meet with Cate and persuade her to work with them. Marie has a solo training session with Cipher, where he asks her to make a live goat levitate. Though Marie fails and inadvertently kills the goat, she notices that Cipher doesn't have any Compound V in his system, leading her to conclude that he's human. Marie shares this revelation with Cate, Jordan, and Emma.
Jordan and Cate unearth a shocking revelation: Cipher is hiding a hyperbaric chamber within his abode. Marie, eager for a confrontation, proposes that Cate wield her psychic abilities against Cipher. However, Cate discloses a sobering truth – her powers have deserted her since Jordan's assault, leaving her powerless to manipulate minds. Cipher, watching their trespass through his security cameras, invites Cate for a meeting.
Marie urges Cate to approach Cipher before the impending showdown, tasking her with capturing his confession that he is not a supernatural being but a mere mortal. Emma volunteers to sneak into the booth where Cipher will sit, armed with a camera.
As the evening unfurls, Marie and Jordan prepare for the fight amidst the jeering crowd's disdain for Jordan. Marie assures them of her love while Emma leads Harper, Ally, and Greg to the sewer room. Greg serves as a sentry while Harper and Ally switch off the water faucet, facilitating Little Cricket Emma's descent into the sewer that leads to the toilet in Cipher's booth. As Emma nears the end of the tunnel, the guard intervenes and reactivates the water supply.
Amidst Emma's swim to the toilet, Ally employs her powers to make her pubic hair wield the water faucet shut. Emma manages to reach the toilet in time, only to be mooned by Cipher as he prepares to use it. She deftly places the camera on the table and retreats while Cate attempts to elicit a confession from Cipher about his true nature.
Marie and Jordan enter the ring for their fight, but Marie kisses them instead. The crowd boos at both Marie and Jordan as Cipher chides Cate for her naivety in believing he lacks powers. He seizes the camera, mocking Cate's ruse, and then uses his own abilities to manipulate Jordan into attacking Marie. Marie strives to thwart Jordan's deadly intent and forces them into levitation. Cipher is relieved to witness Marie unleashing her true strength, and he relents from controlling Jordan.
The episode concludes with Marie striving not to slay Jordan with her powers as she lowers them to the ground.
