Genie, Make a Wish – K-drama Episode 2 1

Later, Iblis reunites with Sade, who is basking in the lap of luxury as a cherished pet of a wealthy Arab magnate. Their rendezvous takes place in the heart of the desert, where Sade endeavors to bring Iblis up to speed with the modern era. After 983 years of slumber, even the sands of the desert have witnessed a myriad of changes.

Meanwhile, Ka-young's vacation comes to a close, and she boards a flight back home, inadvertently leaving the enchanted lamp behind in her hotel room. To her astonishment, Iblis materializes on her flight, making himself at home amidst the surprised passengers. He trails her back to her abode, where everyone mistakenly assumes him to be her fiancé. Pam-geum is taken aback by Iblis's sudden appearance. Introducing himself as Lee Beu-li, Iblis faces a set of ground rules laid down by Ka-young if he intends to stay.

Predictably, Iblis's antics soon grate on Ka-young's nerves, compelling her to revert to her tried-and-true coping mechanisms. A flashback unveils Pan-Geum's unwavering support for Ka-young during her childhood, a testament to their deep bond. Fortunately, Ka-young heeded her guidance and excelled academically. Pan-geum had harbored grand aspirations for Ka-young after she topped her class, only to be deeply disheartened when Ka-young chose the path of a local mechanic.

As Iblis's sojourn continues, he leans on Sade for assistance in navigating the complexities of the modern world. The villagers, in turn, mistake Sade for yet another diligent tourist flocking to their village for the summer. Another flashback reveals the collective efforts of the villagers and Pan-Geum to keep Ka-young on the straight and narrow.

At the mechanic shop, Sang-tae drops by, requesting Ka-young to mend his taillights. Keen-eyed, Ka-young spots traces of blood and hair on the shattered light but chooses to remain silent. Sang-tae, it turns out, is the proprietor of the local guesthouse in the village.

Meanwhile, the tribal chieftain, Chang-sik, stumbles upon the newly arrived couple in town. Mistaking him for a prominent local figure, Iblis approaches Chang-sik with an unconventional greeting—bumping his nose three times in succession. Caught off guard and experiencing a moment of gay panic, Chang-sik threatens to pummel Iblis. Sensing his blunder, Iblis instantly renders himself invincible.

Frustrated by the turn of events, Ka-young takes Iblis aside to the store, attempting to elucidate his social faux pas. Despite being a psychopath, Ka-young has honed her ability to decipher people's emotions over time.

At the store, a staff member endures a harsh reprimand from her branch manager. Meanwhile, Min-ji crosses paths with Irem, the secretary to the village's new real estate mogul, Ejllael.

After their store visit, Iblis discovers the enchantment of carbonated beverages. He soon stumbles upon the addictive allure of arcade games. In the meantime, Ka-young adheres to her routine and embarks on a hike.

On her return journey, Iblis accosts her, pleading for money to feed his gaming habit. Ka-young threatens him with a beating, prompting Iblis to flee after revealing he had pilfered money from Pan-geum's purse. Ka-young spends the day scouring for him. As dusk approaches, Iblis materializes before her as she's driving, and she deliberately runs him over with her car.

It transpires that Sade experiences pain whenever Iblis is injured. He pays a visit to his master ensconced in the lamp. Upon learning that Ka-young is a psychopath, Sade whisks Iblis away to an internet café to delve deeper into Ka-young's condition.

On the other front, Ka-young drops by Min-ji's dental clinic to vent her frustrations. Iblis realizes that threatening Ka-young with the world's destruction is futile.

He concocts a new strategy to coerce Ka-young into making her first wish. He traps her inside a mechanic shop and sets it ablaze. Ka-young, undeterred, escapes through another door and proceeds to thrash him mercilessly.

The villagers and firefighters arrive to witness Iblis receiving the beating of his life. They are astounded by the rapidity with which the fire was extinguished. The onlookers attempt to intervene, but Iblis implores them to let Ka-young continue. She orders him to repair her shop and departs.

Later, Ka-young joins Min-ji for dinner as per her usual routine. During their conversation, Ka-young divulges her plan to end her life once Pan-geum passes away. She fears that without Pan-geum, she will be unable to maintain her structured existence.

For years, Ka-young had been meticulously planning her own demise, even going to the extraordinary lengths of acquiring a coffin-making shop. Iblis, ever the stealthy observer, had been secretly eavesdropping on their conversations, his invisibility granting him the perfect vantage point. Ka-young, however, had caught glimpses of him, though Min-ji, ever oblivious, assumed Ka-young was merely conversing with herself.

On her solitary journey home, Iblis materialized before her, his presence both eerie and captivating. She extended a delicate hairpin towards him, her request laced with a hint of mischief: he should don it only when he was visible solely to her. Iblis, never one to shy away from a challenge, revisited the topic of wishes. Ka-young, her curiosity piqued, demanded to know the driving force behind his relentless pursuit to end her life. He confessed his urgency to hasten her corruption, mirroring the fate of countless other humans.

Yet, Ka-young's faith in humanity remained unshaken, largely due to the profound influence of Pan-geum. Unyielding in her conviction, she presented Iblis with a proposition for her first wish. She challenged him to prove the inherent corruption of humans. Her decree was clear: he must grant the wishes of the first five individuals they encountered that very night. Should more than three of those wishes be tinged with selfishness, Iblis would emerge victorious. In turn, she vowed to swiftly make her own wishes and willingly succumb to his grasp if he triumphed. Iblis, caught off guard by her audacity, found himself both shocked and irresistibly drawn to the gamble.
