The episode commences with Colonel Patrick Quinn (Denis Leary) summoning Corporal Papadakis (Hal Cumpston) into his office, where he reveals a glimmer of recognition following the tank heist but warns that Papadakis teeters on the brink of military expulsion. This tense exchange lingers until Sergeant Dana Conway (Laci Mosley) interrupts with the joyous announcement of birthday cake awaiting in the teenage recreation room.
Later, Quinn seeks out Captain Maggie Quinn (Taylor Misiak), proposing a trip to a local WWII memorabilia shop. She responds by noting that their shared history lacks a mutual fascination for the war years, labeling his interest as an obsession. Quinn recounts his childhood amidst the omnipresent threat of Nazis, even in the Netherlands, but her skepticism only fuels his concern about their base's vulnerabilities. Maggie mentions their quarterly war games, to which Quinn responds by impulsively scheduling an impromptu session for the following morning at 0900 hours.
The next day, Quinn kickstarts the war games with an unconventional mission: to provision three brigades with laundry and cheese. Major Abraham Shah (Danny Pudi) spices up the proceedings by declaring that an adversary has launched a short-range ballistic missile, wiping out all the cheese at the Fromagerie. Maggie swiftly tasks Conway with retrieving a hidden stash, but matters escalate when Private Anthony 'BA' Chapman (Dempsey Bryk) reports that half the machines are tripping circuit breakers. Maggie counters by assigning Papadakis to shut down the bowling alley's power. Adding insult to injury, Shah and Quinn attempt to further complicate matters by stealing BA's Jeep steering wheel. In a dramatic finish, BA miraculously completes his task with the final two loads of laundry mere seconds before time expires.
Post-war games, Quinn spots a drone hovering above and reacts with alarm. Maggie and Dana attempt to reassure him that it belongs to Geert (Louis Kirwan), the local drone enthusiast, but Quinn's paranoia takes over, leading him to destroy the drone. Papadakis manages to track Geert's location from the drone's remains, prompting Quinn to resolve to confront him. En route to Geert's house, Maggie persists in painting Geert as an innocent child, but Quinn remains unconvinced and steadfast in his suspicion.
Back at the Teen Center, Papadakis and BA conceived a plan to extract the possum from the Air Tower, hoping to thwart Quinn's intentions of booting Papadakis off the base. However, their endeavor didn't quite pan out as expected. When Quinn and his companions arrived at Geert's residence, they discovered to their surprise that Geert was merely a young boy. As Quinn began grilling Geert, the latter confessed to stashing documents secretly and handed over his mother's fashion magazine. Matters took an even more uncomfortable turn when Geert's parents returned home unexpectedly.
On their journey back to the base, Quinn remained steadfast in his belief that the Netherlands was teeming with Nazis, much to Maggie's frustration. Reaching her limit, she took him to an antique museum, where she warned him that if he continued to dwell in the past, he would become an outdated, dusty relic, shunned by everyone. When Maggie asked to use the restroom, she inadvertently stumbled upon a room brimming with Nazi memorabilia, including a photograph that identified the owner as "The Butcher of Baden."
Maggie tried to inform Quinn that he had been right about the Nazis, but he beat her to it, acknowledging that he had indeed become a dusty relic destined for a shelf. She praised him for this realization of growth just before revealing the Nazi owner's identity. Meanwhile, as Quinn prepared to confront potentially the last Nazi on earth, Papadakis and BA continued their futile attempts to evict the possum from the Air Tower. During a brief respite, Papadakis received a text message, prompting him and BA to rush to the museum with an official WWII uniform for Quinn.
When Quinn ventured to confront "The Butcher," he suffered a heart attack. Despite their efforts to revive him with CPR, they were forced to call the paramedics. The episode concludes a week later with a transformed Papadakis entering Quinn's office, looking neatly groomed with a combed hairstyle and an ironed, buttoned-up shirt. Papadakis informed Quinn that he was finally embracing everything Quinn had taught him – stealing tanks, punching old Nazis, and indulging in prostitution. Quinn, however, made him swear not to divulge these secrets to anyone.
