Episode 6 of "Good Boy" kicks off with Dong-ju hopelessly smitten, scarcely attending to the doctor's words as he casually waves away the professional's anxieties, chalking it all up to a mere spell of vertigo. His gaze, soft as a puppy's, never leaves Han-na, and he utterly dismisses his symptoms, diving headfirst back into their investigation. Meanwhile, Min Ju-yeong appears ominously privy to their every move, his background impeccably spotless—too impeccable, perhaps. Dong-ju suspects he might be using a disposable phone, possibly discarded somewhere near a parking lot. Indeed, with a bit of sleuthing, Dong-ju unearths the phone, only to find it torn in two.
Unfortunately for Dong-ju, his quest leads him into a perilous predicament—stuck inside a drain after retrieving one of the phone pieces. He teases Jong-hyeon mercilessly after the latter's kiss with Han-na, igniting a rivalry that simmers throughout the episode, as the two continually strive to outdo each other.
The phone is eventually conveyed to the lab, where the team uncovers fingerprints belonging to Ju-yeong, tracing it back to their elusive suspect. Despite being banished from his mother's noodle shop, Dong-ju remains vigilant in protecting Mi-ja, ensuring the mischievous kids who have been vandalizing the place are reprimanded yet shown leniency, offering them food and kindness. His benevolent actions do not go unnoticed by his mother, who invites him over the following evening to mend their fences.
Elsewhere, Drug Demon languishes in the safehouse, bored and yearning for Dong-ju's return. However, she harbors plans to venture out and track down the individual manufacturing counterfeit Candy. The culprit, as it turns out, is holed up at Baukgu Port. Drug Demon devises a cunning scheme, using this intel to manipulate the police into doing her bidding. Her plan proves startlingly effective, especially with Dong-ju and Han-na—fresh from a spat with Gyeong-suk over reopening the case into her father's death—showing up at the scene.
As the police hastily scatter in pursuit of the impersonator known as Bbong-pil, Drug Demon weaves an intricate tapestry of deception, ensnaring all who dare to trust her—all except for Han-na, whose instincts whisper doubts about the enigmatic figure's sincerity. Amidst a subtle plug for Kopiko candies (admittedly, a delight for the taste buds), the group readies themselves for a night-long stakeout, their determination unwavering.
Bbong-pil makes his appearance at the dock, but his astute senses soon alert him to a tail, igniting a thrilling chase across the waterfront. Unfortunately for Dong-ju, his aquatic ineptitude proves his undoing, as he plummets into the water, struggling against the waves.
Undeterred, the group presses on to inspect the laboratory, only to discover that the narratives surrounding Drug Demon clash starkly with the reality they uncover. Bbong-pil remains oblivious to Ju-yeong's existence, his confusion matching Dong-ju's unconventional interrogation tactics. Despite roughing up Bbong-pil and securing hair samples, Dong-ju senses that their quarry may not be the culprit they seek. Ironically, in their zeal to apprehend another player, they unwittingly further Drug Demon's nefarious schemes.
Back at the precinct, a twist unfolds as Jeong-a bursts into the scene, clinging to Jong-hyeon with a desperation that speaks volumes. Her return from the Philippines heralds a new dynamic, and Dong-ju and his team find themselves burdened with the task of ensuring she does not flee. Inevitably, she is confined to the same safe house as Drug Demon, whose true identity remains a mystery that continues to elude them.
As Man-sik delivered his triumphant statement to the police regarding their significant victory, Jong-hyeon and Han-na delved deep into the corporate archives. According to Cheognil Shipping's revenue records, the company had once stood proudly among the elite domestic shippers in the industry, yet the following year, they mysteriously filed for bankruptcy. TAE Corporation swiftly swooped in to acquire their assets. Furthermore, the logistics firm managing these operations turned out to be J9 Security, headed by Oh Jong-gu, who also served under Ju-yeong. TAE Corporation had cleverly smuggled chemicals, disguised as ordinary Russian frozen pollock, with Jong-gu facilitating their delivery to the notorious Drug Demon. Ju-yeong orchestrated this entire operation with meticulous precision, fully aware of its intricacies... yet busting this criminal syndicate wouldn't be a straightforward endeavor.
At the helm of TAE Corporation stood CEO Steve Roh, whose influential father happened to be Deok-gyu, the Mayor of Insung City. This same mayor maintained a cozy relationship with Commissioner Cho, making it all the more challenging to dismantle their interconnected web of corruption.
With their secrets exposed, Ju-yeong was compelled to confront the Mayor and apologize for the mess he had created. Instead, in a fit of rage, he viciously assaulted the Mayor, leaving him in a bloodied heap. Ju-yeong, who had implicated the Mayor in their scheme, demanded that he clear his name from a traffic case as well. This display of brute force silenced Jong-gu temporarily, but when pressed further, Ju-yeong's maniacal question about whether he was truly a bad guy left Jong-gu unsure how to respond. Jong-gu chuckled nervously, insisting he wasn't, but it was evident that Ju-yeong's sanity was fraying. Annoyed by Dong-ju and others' perceptions of him as crooked, Ju-yeong resolved to recruit henchmen who would remain silent and demonstrate just how ruthless he could be.
Later that evening, after a team dinner, Man-sik was ambushed in the bathroom hallway by Ju-yeong's thugs. They disarmed him, seizing his gun and delivering it straight to Ju-yeong. With calculated precision, Ju-yeong fired the weapon indiscriminately, making sure to avoid leaving his fingerprints, clearly setting Man-sik up to take the fall.
Meanwhile, Han-na uncovers the stark reality behind Drug Demon and her true identity. Tragically, Jeong-a also stumbles upon her real name, prompting them to abandon the safe house in unison. This abrupt departure leaves the Captain on pins and needles, especially when the scene of their hurried exit is left in flames.
As for Jeon-ha, she entrusts the Captain's daughter to Ju-yeong, her ally in this tumultuous journey. Ju-yeong, wielding a gun with but a solitary bullet remaining, sports a sinister smile as a devious plan begins to take shape in his mind.
Amidst the team's desperate quest for clarity, Dong-ju receives an unsettling gift—Man-sik's gun, now devoid of bullets. It transpires that Ju-yeong's sights were never set on Jeong-a but rather on Gyeong-il. When Dong-ju arrives at the restaurant, he is met with a harrowing sight: she lies there, bathed in blood, wounded, and hooked to an oxygen tank. The scene is made all the more poignant by the dining table, meticulously set for their intended dinner, adorned with scraps of cucumber—the very cucumber Ju-yeong meticulously removed from his plate.
With his mother now deceased, Dong-ju rushes to the dock, where he strikes Ju-yeong with unbridled force, sending him crashing to the ground. However, interspersed throughout these scenes are hints suggesting the gravity of Dong-ju's brain injury. Will we delve deeper into the extent of his injury in the coming week?
