Moments later, Frankie delivers the heart-wrenching news to Trey, who attempts to twist the situation to his favor. Despite his efforts, she confesses her love but emphasizes that they want different things from life. Prior to meeting Frankie at the restaurant, Devin Brewer (Sam McCarthy) confides in his sister Cece Brewer (Jayden Bartels) about his harrowing experience in the sewers, pledging her to secrecy under oath. As Cece sets off for Debate Camp, Frankie seeks forgiveness for the previous night's events, revealing her breakup with Trey. Yet, when she inquiries about his true desires, Devinates hesit, ultimately ordering as any regular patron would.

Cece's journey to debate camp takes an unexpected turn when bumps she into Alex (Francesca Noel), who's on community service. Their conversation is brief and interrupted by Jen (Ana Ortiz), who grills Alex about a break-in at the fort and a transformer explosion. The exchange also unveils Jen as Alex's mother. Meanwhile, Trey, armed with a gift intended for Frankie, spots her in an embrace with Devin.

Anthony engages in a thought-provoking discussion with Patti (Tonya Pinkins) regarding the plant-like substance discovered in Matty Brewer’s (Christopher Paul Richards) hoodie. To his astonishment, Patti enlightens him that the substance is not a plant but a carnivorous creature. Anthony's encounter with Devin on his way to the pet store is tense, filled with awkward silences stemming from their previous strange encounters. After Anthony departs, Devin calls Cece, initiating a heartfelt yet brief conversation about dementia. The conversation is cut short by Trey's arrival, demanding answers about Frankie. The confrontation escalates into a brief scuffle, ultimately diffused by Frankie's intervention.

Anthony storms back to his home from the pest control store to find Trey once again blocking his driveway. After a heated exchange over the car's displacement, Anthony loses his patience and shatters the driver's side window with a small shovel. With Trey finally moving his vehicle, Anthony descends into the basement. It takes him a couple of minutes, but he eventually manages to lure the tulip bud into consuming the pesky mice. Satisfied, he meticulously stores the bud away in a deep freezer.

As Anthony prepares to leave the house again, he bumps into Devin, who has just returned with an assortment of flashlights. Their brief encounter is awkward and tense until CJ (Elijah M. Cooper) arrives, suggesting to Anthony that they visit the butcher for more meat. Meanwhile, CJ hands Devin his unwanted egg rolls, and Devin instead tasks CJ with holding a flashlight as they venture into the sewer.

While they navigate through the dark, maze-like sewers, Trey breaks into the Brewers' basement. Prior to his entrance, he encounters Frankie, who tries in vain to dissuade him from his mischievous plan. Frankie reluctantly stays outside as Trey ventures in and wrecks havoc on Anthony's basement lab. In the midst of his rampage, Trey starts snapping selfies and inadvertently positions himself near the open deep freezer.

Just as Trey is inexplicably pulled into the deep freezer, Devin and CJ reach the part of the sewer where Devin had nearly suffocated. A brief flashback of the harrowing event strikes him, and he begins to survey his surroundings. To his astonishment, he discovers what appears to be a massive plant root. By this time, Frankie, worried about not hearing from Trey, decides to enter the basement herself. Upon witnessing the destruction, she tries calling him, only to find his abandoned phone nearby.

Shortly afterward, she encounters what seems to be a man entwined with plant roots or vines. Initially terrified, she screams loudly. At the same time, CJ hears her scream, freaks out, and flees the scene. Devin follows him but eventually heads back home after CJ leaves. As soon as Devin opens the door to his house, he is unexpectedly knocked out by the plant man.

Not much later, Anthony returns home through the back door, burdened with an armful of meat. Upon seeing the damage, he receives a call from Patti, who excitedly informs him that he might have discovered a new species and needs to bring it in for study. However, Anthony abruptly ends the call after finding Trey's sweatshirt in the deep freezer. Matters escalate further when Cece also returns home.

The plant man/Trey drags Frankie back to his dad's garage and tries to convince her to scrape off the root-like substance covering his body. The attempt fails miserably, and the situation worsens when Devin arrives to rescue Frankie. Unfortunately, Devin only succeeds in angering Trey, prompting Frankie to drop her dad's Oldsmobile onto him to save Devin. The maneuver only momentarily stuns Trey, as he transforms into a liquid-like substance and absorbs into the car. The episode concludes with this eerie and intriguing twist.
