Alex, now fitted with an ankle monitor, reports for community service. While there, she spots Murph and attempts to catch up with him, but the Community Service Supervisor (Danny Doherty) puts a halt to her chase.

Elsewhere, Frankie and Devin grapple with the mystery surrounding Trey's actions. Anthony seeks assistance from Jen (Ana Ortiz) in tracking down Trey, and soon they find themselves at Joe Jr's (Wayne Lopez) shop, quizzing him about Trey's whereabouts. Joe, however, is more engrossed in discussing the damage Anthony did to his car. Undeterred, Jen convinces Joe to call Trey, but they only reach his voicemail. Next, they try Frankie, who hasn't seen him either.

Meanwhile, Alex requests to borrow a scooter but is met with a refusal, leaving her furious. In a fit of pique, she spots Joe's Oldsmobile and decides to take it. Her first pick-up is Cece, whom she coerces into ditching debate camp with the threat of blackmail over some lip gloss. Alex opens up to Cece about her wrongful conviction, expressing her fear that her mother might view her as a failing criminal. As Cece departs to question Murph's friend, the car's radio and fan inexplicably spring to life, refusing to cease until Cece returns with Murph's work address, tapping on the window.

Jen compels Anthony to deliver a statement at the precinct regarding the break-in, an encounter that spirals into a heated dispute, culminating in Anthony storming away in a fit of rage. Meanwhile, Devin and Frankie embark on a clandestine mission into Anthony's basement, eager to uncover the mystery shrouding the recent events. As he meticulously documents and samples the vine, the duo ducks into hiding. Astonishingly, the vine not only harbors the same enigmatic substance but also comes to life, proliferation rapidly mimicking its previous display.

Alex and Cece, relentless in their pursuit, finally corner Murph, but he flees once more. Alex, undeterred, chases him in their vehicle. Cece's terror escalates, prompting her to plead with Alex to halt the pursuit if she is truly innocent. Relenting momentarily, Alex complies—only for the car to inexplicably spring to life on its own accord. Cece's fear intensifies, mistakenly believing Alex to be wielding control over the automobile. The vehicle collides with a lamppost, leaving it totaled, and Cece, shaken, storms off. Once she's gone, the car miraculously reconfigures itself and roars back to life. While Cece contacts CJ for a ride back to Gravesend, Jen surveys the wreckage, chance discovering Alex's phone amidst the debris.

Trapped inside the battered Oldsmobile, Alex narrowly escapes through the trunk as the car plows through roadwork decorations and races perilously towards the water's edge. Just in time, Alex leaps to safety before the car plunges off a cliff. Jen, furious yet relentless, tracks down Alex and uses her siren to speed past the curfew, reaching home with mere seconds to spare.

Returning to their hideout with the substance extracted from the vine, Anthony is haunted by memories of confessing to Matty (Christopher Paul Richards) his wish to be rid of his older brother on the eve of his disappearance. The extract leads Anthony back to the chamber where Matty vanished, where he finds himself confronting Trey in a violent confrontation.

Just as Jen begins grilling Alex about Trey's whereabouts, she receives an urgent call from Anthony, informing her that he's located Trey. With this dramatic revelation, the episode draws to a cliffhanger.
