The eighth episode of "Had I Not Seen the Sun" commences with the police's unsettling arrival at the school, their boots echoing through the corridors as they embark on a follow-up investigation into Jen-yao's alleged involvement in drug use and distribution. They interrogate his classmates, including Ouyang-ti and his minions, all of whom concoct a charade of coercion and blackmail, insisting they never willingly participated in any illicit activities. As the police depart, Ouyang-ti and his cronies hail their victory over Jen-yao with a celebratory air, Ouyang-ti even boasting about how much further he would have tormented Jen-yao if he had the chance.

Later that day, Hsiao-tung sneaks into her aunt's deserted house, where she has sheltered Jen-yao amidst his feverish state. She tends to him with a motherly care, nurturing him with a warm bowl of porridge before they venture out to procure the essentials he needs. As they return from their errand, Jen-yao encounters a police officer outside a store, and for a moment, it seems like all their efforts have been in vain. But Hsiao-tung deftly averts a potential disaster by claiming she has lost her phone and needs to file a report.
That night, Jen-yao finds himself burdened by guilt for endangering Hsiao-tung. He lies to her, feigning sleep so she will leave him be. But his intentions to follow through on his plan are foiled by Hsiao-tung's astute observation; she waits patiently outside the door. Jen-yao is aware that Ouyang-ti has been planning this betrayal for a long time, and he suspects that the police have been bribed too, likely by Ouyang-ti himself. With Ouyang-ti having access to incriminating photos on Jen-yao's phone, the latter's story will likely fall on deaf ears. Hsiao-tung urges Jen-yao to give her time to figure out a plan together.
The following day after school, Hsiao-tung crosses paths with Ouyang-ti, who offers her a ride. One of his friends questions why she would accept such an offer while in the company of Jen-yao. Ouyang-ti replies with a smirk, suggesting that if Hsiao-tung wants to play the game, they should indulge her. When Ouyang-ti invites her to karaoke on the following Friday evening, Hsiao-tung accepts without hesitation, knowing full well that Jen-yao's photos are in Ouyang's possession. As Jen-yao stealthily returned home to gather his belongings, his mother whispered to him, offering him a few coins and urging him to flee. She promised that once the storm had passed, she would find him. Jen-yao assured her that he had not indulged in drugs; rather, his father had planted them. That evening, as Hsiao-tung made her way back to the house, she stumbled upon Jen-yao on the road. He had contemplated running away, but without Hsiao-tung by his side, he didn't know where else to turn. While walking Hsiao-tung home later that night, Jen-yao shared that he had reached out to a lawyer online who promised to assist him. He expressed his concern about leaving for Taipei to meet with the lawyer, fearing he might not return for a long time and thus miss Hsiao-tung's event. In a gesture of love and determination, Hsiao-tung arranged for Jen-yao to perform a solo act in the school's theater hall. However, during the performance, she twisted her ankle due to the difference in dancing without ballet shoes. Despite the pain, she said she didn't want Jen-yao to miss his chance because of their promise.
As Jen-yao and Hsiao-tung stood on the brink of a kiss, they were chased by a security guard and took refuge in the library. There, amidst the hushed silence, their lips met. Jen-yao vowed to return to her after sorting out everything in Taipei. He promised that once they had dealt with the troublesome matters, he would never leave her alone again and would always hold her hand.
Later that night, Ouyang-ti and his friend picked up Hsiao-tung and her friend for karaoke. After the singing session, Ouyang-ti led Hsiao-tung to his secret base, where his minions, including Chang En-ya, were gathered. Ouyang-ti offered Hsiao-tung drugs, but she outwitted him by making him high first. During karaoke, Hsiao-tung sneakily placed Ouyang-ti's phone in her bag. At the secret base, she pretended to use the restroom and took the phone with her. As she deleted Jen-yao's photos on Ouyang-ti's phone, he was already on to her. He followed her into the bathroom and caught her in the act of deleting the pictures. Enraged, Ouyang-ti violently beat her up and dragged her out of the room.
Her friend, bravely attempting to lend a hand, is nonetheless shoved out of the room by Chan En-ya with a harsh push. Ouyang-ti seizes Hsiao-tung's phone, dialing Jen-yao with a sinister grin. He informs him that Hsiao-tung is in their hands, and they're indulging in a twisted game together. An address is sent across, accompanied by a request for Jen-yao to come alone.
As Ouyang-ti and his comrades close in on Hsiao-tung, they restrain her, engaging in a relentless physical and sexual assault while recording the ordeal on their devices. Jen-yao arrives at the address, only to find Big K and his henchmen guarding the entrance like a formidable wall.
Big K coldly orders Jen-yao to back off and retreat, but his determination to help his friend spurs him to try and push past the barrier. The odds are heavily stacked against him, and despite his best efforts, he is brutally beaten, unable to breach the line of defense. From upstairs, he can hear Hsiao-tung's cries of agony, a haunting reminder of the horrors that have unfolded.
When the ordeal is finally over, Hsiao-tung is left battered and bruised, while Jen-yao stumbles close to unconsciousness. As consciousness slowly returns, he drags his injured frame towards Hsiao-tung. But when he finally reaches her, she turns away from him with unshed tears streaming down her face, refusing to make eye contact or speak a word.
Jen-yao follows closely behind, his heart heavy with the weight of her silence and the memories of her torment. The silence between them speaks volumes, a testament to the depths of their shared trauma and the struggle to find the words that might bridge the gap left by the darkness they've both endured.
