As the fourth episode of Heartbreak High's third season unravels, Quinni finds herself engulfed in a sensory storm as Darren reads a chapter from her smut book. It soon becomes apparent that the school's gossip mill has been churning, leaving her the target of teasing and ridicule. In an attempt to lift her spirits, Amerie suggests they attend Genesis Owusu's secret gig later in the night. But first, she needs to retrieve her fake ID from Ca$h's boss at the bar.
At school, Quinni continues to feel the weight of the whispers and stares from her peers. She is taken aback when Zoe reveals that she wasn't the one who exposed her secret. Apologetic for letting everyone believe she was the author, Quinni tries to make amends with her friend.
Meanwhile, Sasha is stung by Missy's reminder to keep their secret encounter at the carnival under wraps. Later, Taz attempts to make amends with Quinni by replacing the toys in the sensory room. It's a stroke of luck when she discovers they share a love for the Angeline series, and their bond deepens as they discuss their favorite books from the series.
Harper's art project is ruined, and she turns to Liam for help. Despite her best efforts, she can't help but gaze at his perfectly chiselled abs. Unfortunately for Amerie, Malakai accidentally throws her fake ID while helping Ca$h clean the bar. She spends time with Malakai as she tries to obtain a new fake ID from an anonymous internet source called Mr. T.
She realizes that Malakai is still haunted by the police brutality incident, as evidenced by his flinching after watching a police chase. Thankfully, they find Mr. T, who charges them double for a quick turnaround. Amerie insists that Malakai foot the bill. Later, she learns that Noah can't make it to the party, so she invites Malakai instead. Ca$h tries to warn him that he's playing with fire, but Malakai plays it cool.
Returning to school, Missy sought clarity from Darren about the hall pass regulations, hoping he could shed light on their sexual arrangement with Ca$h and others. However, their conversation was interrupted by Spider and Zoe, who were attempting to convince Darren to attend drama practice. Darren once again evaded them. Spider hung back to speak with Missy, suggesting they use a hedgehog emoji as a sign for her to use the hall pass.
After school, Zoe and Spider cornered Darren before he left for the secret gig. Ca$h insisted that they honor their word and practice with their friends, leaving to join the others at the underground party. Upon arrival, Amerie apologized to Missy and promised there wouldn't be any drama. Sasha tried to help Missy find a new sex partner and enjoy her hall pass, while Malakai tried to play it cool with Amerie.
At Ca$h's house, Zoe and Darren helped Spider understand what a hall pass meant for his relationship. They were shocked to learn that Spider and Missy hadn't even set any rules. As they helped him, Zoe admitted that she was scared to have sex with Felix because she had been hurt before. Her ex had kept their relationship a secret because he felt embarrassed by her.
As time passed, Zoe and Darren got into an argument about the hall pass rules. Just then, Spider received a hedgehog emoji from Missy. To help him, Darren and Zoe insisted they head to the party and stop Missy from hooking up with someone else.
At the party, Quinni and Taz continued their conversation. Missy's new interest turned out to be in a relationship, and the girlfriend quickly shut everything down. In a different corner, Malakai and Amerie nearly kissed. After she pushed him away, he went to vent to Missy. The two commiserated about their situation.
Amerie took out her frustration on Harper by sending Liam away and claiming she needed to stay away from him. Harper tried to tell her that Liam had just heard that Clancy was awake. However, Amerie accused her of being dumb enough to hang out with Liam and always sabotaging her life. Cruel words were exchanged, but Amerie's words cut deeper.
Meanwhile, Darren, Zoe, and Spider arrived. Spider started looking for Missy, and everyone was shocked to see her making out with Malakai. No one was more stunned and hurt than Amerie.
