High Potential – Season 1 Episode 9 1

Oz (Deniz Akdeniz) and Daphne (Javicia Leslie) soon uncover a crucial witness, a man scavenging cans by the roadside. This individual, played by Mike Bridenstine, reveals that Marvin was struck not once, but twice by a vehicle. As he relates his account to the detectives, Morgan dives deeper into scrutinizing the crime scene. The witness offers little insight into the car's identity, mentioning only its thunderous engine. Yet, Morgan, ever perceptive, deduces from the tire tracks' width, the blue paint flecks adhering to Marvin's watch, and the witness's description of the engine, that the murder weapon is a Malaga Blue Jensen Interceptor.

Drawing upon the street's layout and other meticulous details, Keradac posits that the killer must have concealed the vehicle in a nearby apartment building's parking garage. Their hunch proves correct as they unearth a blue Jensen Interceptor, bearing damage and devoid of license plates, tucked under a tarp in the garage.

Back at the LAPD offices, the detectives delve into the case, with Price's son Dexter (Sean Patrick Thomas) anxiously awaiting their arrival to discuss his father's demise. Dexter accuses Tiana Johnson (Melanie Liburd), Marvin's live-in "house manager" and the sole beneficiary in his will, of orchestrating his father's murder. The tension in the room is palpable, setting the stage for an intense investigation into motives and betrayals.Dexter further confides in Karadec and Morgan, revealing that he was engaged in a phone conversation with his father when the attack occurred. He recounts Marvin's confession to him about planning to revise his will, excluding Tiana, hinting at a possible motive for her to eliminate him.

Post their conversation with Dexter, Morgan receives a text from Selena (Judy Reyes), informing her of an upcoming meeting with Gio, promising to relay any information she gleans regarding Roman.

Elsewhere, Oz and Daphne venture to interrogate another individual with whom Marvin had prior conflicts, his neighbor Phil Elko (Steve Guttenberg). Despite Phil's lengthy history of disputes with Marvin, his solid alibi renders him an unlikely suspect.

Concurrently, Morgan and Karadec pay a visit to Marvin Price's residence to converse with Tiana Johnson. Tiana expresses her profound affection for Marvin, likening him to a father, and vehemently denies any romantic involvement.

Outside the house, while riding in the car, Morgan and Karadec delve into a discussion about Tiana. Suddenly, a phone rings, but to Morgan's surprise, it isn't hers; she had subtly taken Tiana's phone. Tempted to explore its contents, Morgan is swiftly reminded by Karadec to promptly return it to its rightful owner.

Morgan then requests Karadec to drop her off at a diner, where Selena is scheduled to meet Gio (Domenick Lombardozzi). Though she vows to remain discreet, Morgan insists on hearing firsthand what Gio has to share about Roman. Unable to contain her curiosity, Morgan implores Gio to confide in her. Gio, in turn, reveals that his nephew faces impending charges for minor offenses and seeks assistance in navigating the situation before abruptly departing.

The following day, within the walls of the LAPD, Daphne was relentlessly pursuing the trail of the mysterious car owner, her determination unwavering until Karadec's arrival. Selena swiftly ushered him into her office, her urgency palpable. She beseeched him to wield his influence with a contact at the District Attorney's office, in hopes of shedding light on Gio's predicament and thus procuring the information Morgan so desperately required. With a brief synopsis of Morgan's plea for assistance, Karadec agreed to reach out to his well-placed acquaintance.

Daphne's perseverance bore fruit as she scrutinized the list of LLCs owning Interceptors. A eureka moment dawned upon her when she deciphered "Autophile Holdings" as an acronym for "Auto," "Phil," "E" – an alias for Phil Elko. Without wasting a moment, Karadec and Daphne dashed to Elko's abode.

Elko's LLC owned four Jensen Interceptors, one of which was conspicuously absent. Intriguingly, he had already filed a police report for its theft a week prior to the murder. Moreover, Elko possessed security camera footage capturing the perpetrator in the act. He promptly dispatched the footage to Karadec.

Upon scrutinizing the footage, Morgan's sharp eyes pinpointed the thief and murderer as Olivier Debois (Aren Farrington), an employee at Hollywood Auto. She recounted the call that had rung through Tiana's phone while in her possession, emanating from none other than Hollywood Auto. It stood to reason that a mechanic would possess the expertise to hotwire an Interceptor. The thief's distinctive French-logo shoes and the brick wall serving as his backdrop allowed Morgan to deduce his height at 6 feet 5 inches. A glimpse at Hollywood Auto's website and a team photo confirmed her suspicion – Olivier was indeed the culprit.

Morgan pieced together a theory: Marvin had caught Tiana and Olivier in a compromising position, inciting his fury. He threatened to alter his will, prompting Tiana and Olivier to devise a sinister plot to eliminate him. Olivier stole Elko's car, staging it as if Elko himself had committed the murder.

With the net tightening, Morgan and Karadec headed to Hollywood Auto to apprehend Debois. After a brief, tense pursuit, Karadec successfully took him into custody. In exchange for leniency, Tiana relinquished her claim to Marvin's estate, paving the way for Dexter to inherit his father's legacy.
