In the 13th episode of High Potential season 2, the story unfolds with a dramatic start as two thieves attempt to steal a luxurious car from a showroom. The car, equipped with self-driving technology, responds to the intrusion and causes a chaotic wreck. The robbers are forced to abandon their plans as the car's advanced system proves too much for them to handle.

The next day, the investigative team arrives at the scene and discovers a body beneath the damaged car. Karadec initially assumes the man was run over by the vehicle, but a bullet wound in his chest reveals otherwise. Unfortunately, the car accident has left the victim's face unrecognizable, making it difficult to identify him. It will take some time before they can determine his identity.
As they examine the crime scene, Karadec starts to display an allergic reaction to something. The owner of the showroom, Glen, arrives and agrees to show them footage from the previous night. They quickly realize that the victim's body was dumped in the showroom before the robbery occurred.
Without the victim's identity, it becomes challenging to determine where he was shot. Thankfully, Morgan's keen deduction skills help them identify one of the car robbers and bring him in for questioning. The robber reveals that he doesn't recognize the victim but has seen him around the neighborhood. With the robber's help, they get a sketch of the victim and canvas the neighborhood for any leads.
Meanwhile, Morgan drops by her house to check on her kids. She is shocked when Ava brings up the idea of signing up for a design class. She realizes that her daughter is growing up and will soon leave the nest.
After canvassing the neighborhood, they finally get an ID on the victim. His name is Joaquin Herrero, and he was an ecology professor. He was shot in his living room, and his body was moved to the showroom. The investigation continues as they piece together the events that led to this tragic outcome.
A conversation with the neighbors reveals that he was in a dispute with Glen. He had accused Glen of dumping toxic waste around the neighborhood. They immediately bring in Glen, but set him free after he and his lawyer prove that the matter was settled a long time ago through court. Glen insists that he is being framed.
Later, Morgan gets an urgent message from Ava. She rushes home to discover that Elliot has received a full scholarship to an expensive prep school. Meanwhile, outside, Arthur kidnaps the mysterious man who has been stalking Morgan.
In the meantime, Morgan returns to the office to talk to Soto about Elliot's offer. She expresses her concerns about being ready to let Elliot go, and Soto agrees that it is indeed scary. Afterwards, Karadec and Morgan drop by the judge's chambers to find out more about Joaquin and Glen. It turns out that Joaquin was not happy when the judge gave Glen a restraining order against him. The restraining order covered Joaquin's garden, and he went on to threaten the judge over it.
While speaking to Judge Lyne, Morgan notices a recurring lunch date on his calendar. She also notices a money band used by banks to hold two thousand dollars in twenty-dollar bills. The judge suddenly gets defensive when Morgan brings this up. He explains that Stew is an old friend from high school who is struggling in life. Apparently, he meets him occasionally for lunch and offers him money.
Worried about the direction the investigation was taking, Karadec questioned why she was suspicious of the judge. Morgan insisted that the judge was having an affair with a dominatrix and might have killed Joaquin to keep it a secret. Shortly after, the police received an anonymous call that one of Joaquin’s neighbors, Katie, was found hiding a gun. They searched her place and found the gun and a blanket covered in blood, presumably Joaquin’s. They arrested her, but she maintained her innocence. They questioned whether she killed Joaquin to buy his house for a low price.
Morgan quickly established that Katie was being set up, and the killer came through the window. They began searching for professional window installers in the neighborhood and found Winter. A quick investigation into Winter revealed that he was being blackmailed. He, like the judge, drove the same car. It turned out that Glen was using his cars to spy on his clients. In the end, they arrested Glen and confronted him for killing Joaquin after learning he had threatened the judge to side with him.
In the evening, Karadec returned home early to Lucia's delight. She mentioned the possibility of finding a new place in town. She felt like Karadec had changed and was willing to work things out with him. He credited Morgan for the new changes in his life and offered to check out the new place with her.
Elsewhere, Morgan told Elliot about the school offer he received and they discussed it. In the end, Elliot decided not to go. Meanwhile, Soto received a call about Arthur. He had tortured the bearded man for information and discovered that he was the one who had kidnapped Roman 16 years earlier. The man was currently in the hospital, and Arthur was in jail. Soto called Morgan and updated her on the case.
