Hijack – Season 2 Episode 8 1

Back on the train, Olivia reaches out to Sam, explaining that she has been in contact with Marsha. She plays the recording for him, which ends with the sound of dogs in the background. Concerned that Marsha may be sacrificing herself for him, Sam stubbornly refuses to let that happen and continues with the initial plan for the handover.

Will the transfer proceed as planned? Meanwhile, Stuart, behind bars, orchestrates more of his mission from within. Standing in the yard with his smuggled phone, he contacts Lang and demands that he get the plan back on track. He is determined to prevent any of this from reaching him, and the transfer of Bailey-Brown must still go ahead, even if it means Lang putting him on the train himself.

With the media watching and 100 prisoners still onboard, Ada decides to proceed with the transfer. Despite the political ramifications and the potential for everything to spiral out of control, they are prepared to see this through to the end.

The Control Team learns more about Jess as they uncover her true identity. Her real name was Mona Hakimi, a combat medic trained by Moroccan special forces. She also has a tattoo on her wrist, which Olivia spots and realizes it's the same sigil that links to The Foxhole, a pub Sam visited before. Olivia believes this is Sam's way of trying to guide them in the right direction - and who they were both working for. Interestingly, one of these pictures with Jess out in Morocco also features Lang.

The Control Team struggles to identify the mole as they scramble for answers. Meanwhile, the train pulls up to the depot, and Sam gives an impassioned plea to the passengers to sit tight for now, promising to get them all off.

Daniel continues to try and rattle Stuart, demanding that he be searched after his "exercise" outside in the yard. Predictably, nothing comes up, but Stuart remains in control here. Inside his cell, he watches eagerly as the prisoner transfer takes place on the train.

The group struggles to decipher Lang's connection, as helicopters circle the wilderness with no sign of Marsha, delivering a dismal update to Sam. However, Marsha's fate is not yet sealed, as we soon witness her resilience. She makes her way back to the cabin, where she attempts to ignite a massive fire.

At the depot, Lang arrives, prepared to personally escort Bailey-Brown onto the train. However, Faber senses something amiss and inspects the platform, discovering the missing officer and realizing that Lang is their mole.

As Lang and Bailey-Brown engage in a heated debate about the "protocol" they're following, Otto realizes he can't leave Sam alone and gets back on the train. He informs Sam that something is seriously wrong, especially as Bailey-Brown doesn't seem pleased about any of this.

They come to the same realization as Olivia and the others in the control room... but it's too late.

Lang boards the train and handcuffs Bailey-Brown to the carriage. Suddenly, Otto steps on the accelerator, and the train is back on track, heading out of the depot and back into the tunnels. Sam decides to take advantage of Lang being onboard and being the trigger-man, knowing he's loathe to kill himself.

However, Lang is armed and goes on a manhunt for Sam and Otto, who play a dangerous game up and down the train as he fires off warning shots. Sam eventually steps out and confronts Lang, biding enough time for Otto to slam on the brakes in the tunnels.

Sam urges Otto to leave and get out, before he himself exits the train and hits the detonator, blowing it sky-high.

As for Marsha, her fire turns into an inferno, and it brings the helicopters back. Unfortunately, it also brings the assassins back too. It's a race against time as the authorities scramble to pick her up, while Stuart, having heard reports of the explosion in the underground, hears from Lang who tells him, "It's done, they're dead."

However, one of the guards happens to be overhearing everything happening inside Stuart's cell, and they record every word of their conversation. Stuart brags that Cheapside is his firm and Lang will be getting a cut of the Kingdom money, like they agreed, provided that Sam and Bailey-Brown are both dead.

As we soon see, it's not quite that simple. Otto and Sam are actually still alive and stumble out of the tunnel, with Sam chasing after Lang. Lang is eventually shot dead when he refuses to comply with the authorities, while both Sam and Marsha come out of this alive.

With all the hostages safe, Beck's subplot rendered completely useless, and the Control Room back under control, Germany can breathe a sigh of relief again. The systems are back up and running, and Clara heads home after a ridiculous shift.

In the aftermath of this, Sam meets with Olivia and Faber, who hand over the phone and allow him to call Marsha, now that she's safe. He dials her number and informs his wife that he's here, bringing the season to an end.
