Sylvie lends a helping hand in clearing out the hospital room, yet an almost tangible tension binds them together. However, the news of yet another attack pulls Abigail back into the realm of politics with a jolt. The next morning, ministers convene to condemn the violence in unison but inform Abigail that they expect her resignation, doubting her commitment to the country's best interests.

The cabinet is eager for Dan to step into the breach, but Abigail digs her heels in, refusing to relinquish her post willingly. They remain indifferent to the personal toll this situation is taking on her.

Post the cabinet meeting, another tempest erupts when Vivienne's illicit affair with her stepson comes to light. Matheo wakes to this bombshell news and the insistent ringing of his doorbell. In a hurry, he grabs Saskia's laptop and slips out through the window, oblivious to the shadowy figure trailing him.

Elsewhere, Vivienne storms into her husband's place, horrified by his efforts to humiliate her through a game. He promptly calls his lawyer and PR experts to orchestrate damage control. Yet, Vivienne remains laser-focused on coaxing Adrienne into spilling the beans and unveiling the mastermind behind this entire scheme.

Vivienne, having reached her limit, utters the fateful words, requesting a divorce from her husband and promptly sets off to confront Adrienne at the French embassy. Meanwhile, Abigail pays Kofi a visit, filling him in on the MI5's preliminary report. Kofi, leveraging his treasury connections, had exploited a tax loophole to fund his wife's treatment – a decision he's not proud of but would readily repeat. Abigail, empathetic to his plight, enlists his aid. She beseeches him to delve into Dan's affairs and ascertain if he's orchestrating the attacks. Kofi, ever loyal, agrees to assist her.

Post-meeting, Abigail heads to the hospital to reunite with Alex. The family's joy at being together is tempered by ongoing turmoil. Abigail unburdens herself about her father's demise, while Alex offers his unwavering support. He readily agrees to undergo immediate debriefing to aid in tracking down the kidnappers. Livingstone takes charge of the debriefing, playing Alex a recording of the kidnapper's voice. The haunting tones trigger an emotional breakdown in Alex, who reveals that the kidnapper had mentioned having a daughter once. Regrettably, this revelation brings no fresh leads.

Across town, Saskia keeps Vivienne under surveillance. As Vivienne arrives at the embassy to confront Adrienne, Saskia phones an anonymous figure, who issues a dire command: eliminate Adrienne before she implicates them.

During the tense interrogation, Adrienne remains defiant, labeling Vivienne a traitor. As French police prepare to escort Adrienne away, Saskia takes a sniper's shot but misses her mark. The bodyguards, acting swiftly, bundle Adrienne into Vivienne's car and speed off. During the chaotic ride, Vivienne persuades Adrienne to at least divulge one name.

Vivienne and her team speed straight to Downing Street, where Vivienne promptly informs Abigail that Adrienne had dropped the name Shagan. She proposes an alliance, envisioning their combined efforts bringing the attackers to justice.

Concurrently, Matheo phones Vivienne, requesting an urgent meeting to unveil Saskia’s laptop. Unbeknownst to them, the kidnapper keeps a covert watch as Matheo steps inside, followed shortly by the intruder posing as a journalist.

Within moments, Vivienne and Abigail ink a deal and hastily broadcast it to the media, stunning everyone with Vivienne's selfless commitment to aiding Britain. Her speech resonates with determination as she vows never again to be misled, aspiring to be an honest politician—a paradoxical yet noble aspiration. She reaffirms her dedication to safeguarding the vulnerable and expresses her solidarity with Abigail, albeit too late; a vote of confidence is already underway within the cabinet. Abigail, for her part, advocates for calm and time to ensure the drugs are delivered.

Matheo is heartened by Vivienne's newfound stance. Meanwhile, Kofi contacts Abigail, informing her that Dan is cleared of wrongdoing. She assigns him to investigate Shagan. Unfortunately, Abigail loses the confidence vote.

Matheo then presents Vivienne and Abigail with the incriminating evidence from Saskia’s laptop, detailing all he knows about her. The evidence reveals to Abigail the tragic truth about her father’s murder. They delve deeper into Saskia’s background, uncovering her status as a discharged corporal. As they converse, Vivienne ponders why Saskia would leave such a crucial laptop behind.

Outside, the kidnapper monitors the laptop feed and detonates an explosion. Vivienne instinctively leaps in front of Matheo to shield him. Alerted by the blast, Alex rushes to Abigail’s side, finding her barely conscious. Miraculously, she gradually regains awareness as soldiers arrive to secure the premises. Alex examines Vivienne and solemnly pronounces her deceased. Matheo stands in disbelief as soldiers apprehend him along with Abigail’s family.
