House of David – Season 1 Episode 7 1

Elsewhere, in the brooding Valley of Elah, the ranks of the Philistine army swell, their presence a dark omen. King Saul, burdened with the weight of leading Israel into battle, struggles to maintain his composure amidst the turmoil. With Abner at his side, he endeavors to steer the Israelite forces with steadfast resolve. However, an unexpected twist unfolds when King Achish reveals Goliath, a giant of formidable might, as his secret weapon. Goliath's menacing presence terrifies the king, sending him into a frenzy of rambling declarations. In a desperate bid to inspire morale, Saul vows to bestow his daughter upon the warrior who vanquishes Goliath.

Saul's leadership falters, his condition deteriorating by the day. Meanwhile, Goliath continues to taunt and terrorize the Israelite army, daring any brave soul to step forward and challenge him. Jonathan, Abner, and Joab attempt to rally the troops with false bravado, but their efforts ring hollow. The encampment is permeated with fear and uncertainty, Samuel's absence noticeable and deeply unsettling. Normally, his blessing before battle served as a beacon of hope, but now he is nowhere to be seen – instead, he finds himself at Jesse's home, urging him to relent and allow David to join the fight. Furthermore, Samuel imparts to David the visions he has been experiencing, revealing glimpses of Joshua's encounter with the Commander of God's Army.

As the days drag on, Goliath's torment of the Israelites intensifies, while Saul descends deeper into a comatose state. The malevolent spirit that haunts him grows ever more potent, rendering the remedies of the prophetess ineffective. The Israelite soldiers, frustrated and terrified, begin to desert their posts. One tribe, unable to bear the pressure, decides to flee, and Adriel, seeing an opportunity, attempts to seize control by leading the remaining forces. However, Abner swiftly quashes his ambitions, warning him to stay within the bounds of his duty.

In the midst of this chaos, Jonathan resolves to confront Goliath himself and begins his preparations. News of Saul's ailing condition spreads to the capital, prompting his daughters, Michal and Merab, to flee the palace in the hope of aiding their father's recovery. Unbeknownst to them, their journey will lead them into a web of intrigue and danger.

Meanwhile, in the land of Judah, Samuel's mentorship of David deepens, imparting wisdom about the virtue of patience and the significance of awaiting the auspicious moment. David once again finds himself in a vision, encountering the Commander of God's Army. This encounter prompts David to效仿 Joshua's actions, casting aside his hoe and offering praises. He seeks the Commander's counsel with earnestness. Within the realm of this vision, the Commander guides David to select a stone, yet afterward, David is left feeling more beleaguered than ever, as his father, Jesse, remains steadfast in his refusal to let him depart. After extensive persuasion, Jesse finally relents and grants David permission to leave.

On the battlefield, Abner strategizes with Jonathan, urging him to bide his time and strike the Philistines under the cloak of night. To bolster their forces, Abner recruits mercenaries from the tribe of Asher to aid Jonathan. Among them, Jonathan is displeased to encounter Doeg, who eagerly volunteers his services. Doeg suggests eliminating the anointed one, but Jonathan firmly declines to engage in his deceitful schemes.

Prior to embarking on their stealthy mission, Jonathan pays a visit to his father's tent to bid farewell. Saul, still in a coma, is haunted by another harrowing nightmare, foretelling Jonathan's demise on the battlefield. As the episode draws to a close, Jonathan steadfastly marches towards the Philistine encampment, while David commences his journey towards the fray, his heart set on battle.
