In the opening of Episode 8 of "Idol I," we're thrown back in time as Ra-ik dashes to the hospital, where doctors inform CEO Geum, Young-bin, and Manager Han-gu that Jae-hee is in a critical state. Ra-ik is convinced that someone attempted to kill Jae-hee, but CEO Geum claims that the police discovered a suicide note in his car.

Se-na then meets Detective Nam-sik for an interrogation. Nam-sik informs her that she was one of the three people Jae-hee contacted before his death. Since Jae-hee had no clear connection to her, Nam-sik wanted to speak with her first.

During the interrogation, Se-na plays the voice message Jae-hee sent her before his accident. Jae-hee sounds panicked as he tells Se-na that he tried calling Woo-seung on the night of his murder. Woo-seung's phone was apparently ringing in the garden, which led him to follow the sound.

The voice message abruptly cuts off when someone knocks on Jae-hee's car window. Nam-sik tells Se-na that Jae-hee left a suicide note in the car, confessing to killing Woo-seung before ending his own life.

Se-na later shares this information with Chung-jae and insists on investigating further. Chung-jae reminds her that she is no longer Ra-ik's lawyer and asks her to let the case go.

That night, Byung-kyun visits his father, Jong-chul, who asks him about the case and learns that it will soon be closed due to Jae-hee's confession. While playing a game of Go, Jong-chul points out that Byung-kyun is playing defensively and brings up how he handled Se-na's father's case after he died in prison, urging Byung-kyun to continue pursuing Ra-ik to protect his reputation.

That same night, Ra-ik breaks down in tears on his way back to the dorm. Unable to return there, he ends up at Se-na's house, where she finds him standing in the pouring rain.

The next morning, Ra-ik wakes up in Se-na's house and finds her asleep beside his bed. He realizes that she stayed up all night taking care of him. In the backyard, Se-na talks to Ra-ik, who admits that he found himself walking to her house without thinking.

They delve into Jae-hee's suicide note and the murder weapon found in his car. Se-na informs Ra-ik that this is conclusive proof of Jae-hee's guilt, declaring Ra-ik innocent and closing the case. However, Ra-ik remains unconvinced, insisting that Jae-hee was framed.

At the prosecutor's office, Byung-kyun eavesdrops on his colleagues discussing the potential damage to his reputation if they fail to prove Ra-ik's guilt. Meanwhile, Manager Han-gu is taken aback to learn that CEO Geum is planning Ra-ik's comeback album so soon after the tragedy. CEO Geum enlists Han-gu to persuade Ra-ik to start working on it.

Later, Ra-ik joins Se-na as she investigates the accident site. Ra-ik attempts to climb down the cliff, and Se-na follows suit. He holds her hand to prevent her from slipping as they move together. Both conclude that the circumstances surrounding Jae-hee's suicide do not align with where the car was found.

Hye-ju tries to contact Se-na but is unable to reach her. Ra-ik and Se-na then visit the hotel where Jae-hee had been staying. They speak with the receptionist, who is a fan of Ra-ik. She notes that Jae-hee did not seem like himself during his stay and confirms that no one visited him.

Ra-ik explains that Jae-hee chose that hotel because it was close to the site of Gold Boys' debut performance. They walk to the festival grounds, and Ra-ik reminisces about the performance, unaware that Se-na was in the audience that day. He takes her to a secluded spot in the woods where the Gold Boys members used to make wishes on a wishing tree.

Ra-ik recalls how Woo-seung, Jae-hee, and Young-bin wrote their dreams and hung them on the tree. He notices that Jae-hee has added a new wish to his old card, expressing his desire to reunite with all the band members. Ra-ik writes his own wish before they leave.

Later, Byung-kyun delves into Jae-hee's toxicology report and discovers that the drug consumed by Jae-hee was not locally available. He promptly contacts Detective Nam-sik and assembles a team to further investigate the accident.

That night, Ra-ik and Se-na are locked inside the park. Se-na panics, but Ra-ik calms her down and offers her his jacket for warmth. Se-na reveals that she is no longer his fan, and he mentions seeing the merchandise she had thrown away. He asks why she liked him so much, and she replies that there was no specific reason.

Ra-ik reminisces about the day he gave her the cap by the lake when she was trying to end her life. He shares that he was also struggling that day and recalls how his mother scolded him for not earning enough. He remembers watching her step into the water and rushing after her to stop her. In the present, Ra-ik apologizes for not recognizing her back then, and they talk about Se-na's father.

Se-na reveals how her father died in prison and how she was left alone and bullied at school. She explains that Ra-ik's song gave her the strength to keep living. She thanks him for saving her life and admits that her feelings for him grew after that day. She apologizes for lying to him, and Ra-ik thanks her for being his loyal fan for so many years.

As they are about to share a moment, a park guard interrupts them. As they leave, Se-na receives a call from the hotel receptionist, who asks them to return. There, they meet a steward who says he overheard Jae-hee arguing with someone on the phone and asking for more time. The steward reveals that Jae-hee addressed the person on the call as "CEO."

That night, Se-na and Ra-ik reflect on CEO Geum's possible involvement in the case. Se-na recalls a previous conversation with her boss about CEO Geum and shares it with Ra-ik. They agree that CEO Geum knows more than he is letting on.

Meanwhile, CEO Geum appears visibly unsettled during a meeting with his team. He instructs them to handle all matters related to Woo-seung's murder and Jae-hee's accident with caution.

Se-na and Ra-ik visit the agency to confront CEO Geum. Ra-ik questions why both Woo-seung and Jae-hee spoke to him last before their deaths. CEO Geum responds that both men were hiding secrets he was not prepared to hear. Ra-ik asks him to tell the truth about his bandmates as the episode comes to an end.
