In Episode 3 of Season 3 of *Invasion*, the spotlight pivots to Boise, Idaho. Clark Evans and Aneesha find themselves mingling with the rest of the neighborhood, enduring a painfully off-key rendition of "Mr. Brightside" by a local band. Perhaps the extraterrestrials have a point in considering the wholesale destruction of everything—after all, this performance might just be Earth's final insult.
Meanwhile, Sarah is poised to buckle down and take on a mountain of responsibilities at school. Yet, Aneesha, ever mindful of life's fragility after their family narrowly escaped annihilation by the alien invasion, urges her to seize the moment and live a little.
The family's world is turned upside down when Trevante Cole pays them an unexpected visit. He strides in and initiates a conversation with the family about Caspar's uncanny connection to the aliens, speculating that Luke might harbor a similar link. To put this hypothesis to the test, Trevante decides to present Luke with Caspar's brainwave readings, which had spiked dramatically. The revelation doesn't seem to faze Luke, but it sends a shiver down Aneesha's spine. Luke insists he feels nothing and hasn't sensed anything since the Mothership's crash, but it's tough to discern whether he's being truthful or keeping secrets.
Clark, however, has something more pressing to share. A shadowy hacker dubbed Infinitas had recently leaked data from the government's portal a few days prior. This enigmatic figure has a penchant for exposing government documents pertaining to aliens, and so far, the World Defense Council (WDC) has been unable to apprehend them.
The leaked information is rife with intriguing leads: whispers of the Mothership's grand "masterplan," and reports of bodies discovered at the fringes of the Dead Zone. Yet, amidst this cacophony of information, one classified post stands out—a mention of a specific frequency that registers activity on scanners, eerily mirroring Casper's brainwave pattern.
This could very well be a crucial clue, prompting the group to decide to journey and meet this enigmatic figure, Infinitas, at a grand gathering in Baker City. It lay a few hours' drive from Idaho, so Trevante took it upon himself to book a motel for the night, undeterred by the fact that he was effectively public enemy number one. Then again, if he had managed to traverse half the country undetected, a single night in a motel should pose no threat!
At the motel, Trevante's inner turmoil bubbled to the surface, his anxiety and PTSD manifesting in violent outbursts and erratic behavior. Clearly, he was grappling with the mental toll of everything—the harrowing close encounter with the aliens, the haunting memory of Caspar's death. When Jamila attempted to lend a comforting hand, he angrily shoved her away, his words laced with venom.
That fateful night, Aneesha uncovered a shocking truth: Luke had been lying to her. It emerged that he had been hearing the aliens' eerie whispers and had even sketched the familiar, ominous spikes. He had deceived Trevante because he yearned for a semblance of normalcy, to forget the looming horror, but escape was futile.
Aneesha realized that she was being inexorably drawn back into this nightmare, whether she willed it or not. She showed up at the motel the next morning, determined to accompany Trevante to Baker City. Before their departure, Jamila voiced her concerns about Trevante's volatile state and his recent outbursts.
Sensing the danger he posed to those around him, Trevante made the tough call to ditch Jamila, unwilling to compromise her safety. And so, the duo set off for Baker City. Upon arrival at the meeting, they found themselves amidst a sea of people. Each attendee was subjected to a thorough search and scan, yet Trevante managed to slip through with minimal fuss. The venue was a treasure trove of memorabilia and weaponry, with license plates proudly displaying the rebellious slogan, "My pronouns are kill/aliens." Quite the statement.
It wasn't long before the group recognized Trevante Cole. To them, he was the embodiment of the WDC's cause, the poster boy for their resistance. But Trevante, overwhelmed and anxious, made a hasty retreat. Their pursuit proved fruitless. However, on the journey back, Aneesha chose to confide in Trevante, revealing the truth about Luke and the visions that had haunted him.
However, they soon find themselves being shadowed and are eventually escorted to Infinitas at her residence. Forced to leave their phones behind, Aneesha is left to anxiously miss calls from Clark. At Infinitas, the duo proudly displays the mysterious frequency, prompting the conspiracy theorists to divulge that the last time such a signal was detected was years prior, during an incident at a DSN station coinciding with the appearance of the hunter-killers. As the high-pitched noise blares from the laptop, it triggers Trevante, sending him into a whirlwind of flashbacks to his harrowing days aboard the Mothership.
Meanwhile, at Portal Base 11, Nikhil and Mitsuki arrive under the cover of darkness and stealthily infiltrate the facility. They successfully hack into the system and begin downloading two weeks' worth of data, searching for any pre-Cole-return signals. Yet, as they delve deeper, Mitsuki becomes acutely aware of an unsettling change within the portal, one that begins to take a toll on her mental equilibrium.
But their efforts are abruptly cut short when the WDC (World Defense Council) storms into the Infinitas gathering, apprehending everyone before they can take further action. A similar fate befalls Nikhil and Mitsuki at Portal Base 11, where they find themselves held at gunpoint.
Suddenly, chaos erupts as tentacles surge forth from the portal, writhing and spreading across the base. It becomes evident that this is no isolated incident; all portals are experiencing the same harrowing ordeal, marking the onset of another global assault. When Clark learns of Aneesha and Trevante's disappearance, he is left utterly stunned.
