Episode 4 of *Invasion* Season 3 erupts with global pandemonium. The U.S. government has issued urgent evacuation orders for anyone residing within 50 miles of an alien portal, while the World Defense Council (WDC) scrambles to mobilize its troops in a desperate bid for containment. Amidst the turmoil, Aneesha calls Clark from an FBI field office in Boise, ostensibly to share updates but in truth, she’s confined there under interrogation. Her voice carries a tinge of regret as she apologizes for the prolonged silence, half-expecting to be back home by dinner. Yet, her call is abruptly terminated by the authorities, leaving a trail of unanswered questions.
Clark, sensing something amiss, resolves to rescue her. Teaming up with Jamila, they embark on a mission to bring Aneesha back, recognizing it as the only viable course of action. After all, the FBI has been grilling Aneesha about her alleged ties to Infinitas, armed with months of data records detailing her searches related to the group—evidence that does little to bolster her case.
Meanwhile, Mitsuki and Nikhil find themselves whisked away to Skywatch Headquarters in Montana. Mitsuki’s return to the WDC fold is far from cordial; she ventures her frustration by delivering a sharp slap to the Director’s jaw, a gesture of unbridled contempt. In the midst of this chaos, Trevante is captured, only to be unexpectedly reunited with Mitsuki and Nikhil. The General, appearing remorseful, offers an apology for his past dismissiveness, now with ears wide open. Trevante recounts his harrowing encounters within the alien walls, emphasizing that this particular extraterrestrial threat dwarfs all previous encounters in both size and strength.
Director Regan makes an appearance as well, proposing the use of Caspar’s frequency as a means to jog Trevante’s memory about the aliens. Despite their efforts, the attempt proves futile. However, another analyst at the scene posits that Trevante’s memories will resurface as they proceed with their mission—a plot twist that conveniently aligns with the series’ narrative needs.
So, what is this mission? Since the portals opened, a bizarre, vine-like structure has been rapidly spreading from each site. Their neural darts, once a formidable weapon, are now rendered ineffective against this new menace. These neural webs are actually serving as conduits, linking the Hunter Killers (HKs) to the alien mother ship. HKs are now pouring out of every portal in relentless waves, and projections indicate that humanity has a mere 30 days before being completely overwhelmed.
The mission at hand is a daring one: an elite squad of soldiers is set to infiltrate the treacherous Dead Zone and affix a Shard Bomb to the Core. By doing so, they aim to obliterate it in a spectacular explosion, severing the alien signal at its very origin. This, of course, is a perilous gamble, and Nikhil is convinced it's nothing short of a suicide mission. Despite his apprehensions, Trevante is resolute, ready to plunge headfirst into the fray. Mitsuki, too, is joining the ranks, her invaluable ability to decipher the alien tongue making her an indispensable asset. And Nikhil, bound by his intricate ties to the weaponry, is coerced into accompanying them.
Amidst this high-stakes backdrop, Mitsuki and Nikhil engage in a tense dialogue regarding the experiments Mitsuki endured. Nikhil persistently champions the cause of aiding her, vowing to do everything in his power to help. Yet, Mitsuki remains skeptical, her sole focus now on returning to a life of tranquility and eradicating the alien menace once and for all.
Meanwhile, Clark and Jamila make their way to the field office, where they manage to persuade the receptionist to lend a hand and facilitate a conversation with Aneesha. The Professor is also present, and he finds himself embroiled in a discussion with Jamila and Clark about their predicament and their connections to Caspar.
Clark, weary of idle chatter, decides to take matters into his own hands and sneaks into the back to confront Aneesha. He's dead set on trying to orchestrate her escape, but fate has other plans. Aunt Verna suddenly collapses in the hallway, prompting Aneesha to rush to her aid.
The paramedics arrive on the scene, and Aneesha, with the help of the Professor and Clark, manages to get Jamila outside. They hastily pile into the ambulance just as the FBI catches wind of their identities. It turns out Jamila is none other than Infinitas.
As the episode draws to a close, the elite team approaches the portal in their helicopters. But disaster strikes as they are suddenly assailed by colossal tentacles that erupt from the portal, soaring skyward in a menacing display.
