The opening sequence of Invincible Season 3's first episode finds Mark immersed in the rigorous assessment of his burgeoning powers, gradually molding himself into an unyielding superhero. Cecil stands as his vigilant mentor, orchestrating trials that push Mark's strength, endurance, and swiftness to their limits. Over the preceding ninety days, Mark's speed has soared by a commendable 65%, his endurance has leaped by an impressive 70%, and his strength has skyrocketed by an astonishing 138%. The science team, striving to keep pace with his escalating abilities, scrambles to procure heavier, more challenging equipment for him to master. Yet, the ultimate gauge of his prowess will be measured against the formidable Viltrumites.
Amidst the looming shadow of an even greater menace, Rex and Mark venture forth, confronting a duo of ruffians at the Archive Building who attempt to seize the Declaration of Independence. Their success is undeniable, particularly when Rex finds himself overpowered by Multi-Paul. However, Mark unleashes his fury, turning the tide of the battle. Paul, still grief-stricken over Kate's demise and mistakenly blaming Rex, is left astounded when she suddenly appears, revealing that she merely sought solitude and had kept a "duplicate copy for safekeeping." To everyone's surprise, she also announces her engagement!
Following these dramatic twists, Multi-Paul is apprehended, while back at headquarters, emotional reunions unfold. Rae and Rex embrace, rekindling their bond. Oliver, meanwhile, proudly demonstrates his newly acquired powers, hinting at an even greater turmoil lurking on the horizon. Although he isn't directly involved, incidents across America hint at a sinister connection yet to be uncovered by Donald.
Mark grapples with the complexities of his relationship with Eve. Rick offers him sage advice, cautioning him against concealing the truth about Other Eve. Remembering the secrets he kept from Amber and the repercussions they brought, Mark is determined to embark on this new relationship with honesty and integrity. With resolve, he approaches Eve, endeavoring to ask her out with all the sincerity he can muster.
Regrettably, Mark chooses to delve into the subject of Other Eve, leaving the conversation hanging on an uneasy cliffhanger. Cecil, irked by Debbie's omission about Oliver's extraordinary abilities, storms over with the intention of asserting his authority. He insists on Oliver undergoing testing, but Debbie balks at the notion, reminding everyone that Oliver is but a child. Oliver, having inadvertently eavesdropped on the heated exchange, expresses a yearning to venture out on his own. Recognizing the inevitability of his fate, Debbie engages him in a heart-to-heart, eventually compromising and agreeing to allow Oliver to embark on his training journey.
However, a dark twist unfolds as all the heroes find themselves ensnared by Doc Seismic, who has clandestinely monitored Earth's vibrations, orchestrating those mysterious incidents and biding his time to strike. With his miniature arachnid minions securing everyone else, only Eve and Mark remain to mount a rescue. Their efforts falter, resulting in their own capture, leaving the outlook grim until Cecil and the team unleash their secret weapon – Darkwing Two. With his ReAnimen at his disposal, Darkwing manages to overpower Doc Seismic and secure the release of the imprisoned heroes.
Mark, incensed by Darkwing's alliance with Cecil, dashes off impulsively to confront him. D.A. Sinclair's brilliance notwithstanding, Cecil clings to the belief that their psychological conditioning has steered them back onto the path of righteousness. Blinded by rage, Mark blindly follows Cecil into the White Room, only to find themselves encircled by a hostile throng of ReAnimen.
