In episode 3 of Invincible season 4, Machine Head arrives to confront Titan, revealing that Mr. Liu is still alive and has his sights set on the latter. With the protective measures put in place by Machine Head and The Order, he's deterred from going after them. This is also a roundabout way for Machine Head to "fix the picture" and bring Titan back into The Order's fold. However, Titan refuses the call to action and walks away.

Meanwhile, Cecil is worried about Mark, fearing that Invincible may be a loose cannon they can't control, given his recent actions with Dinosaurus and Rus. Cecil has been down this road before and believes that trauma could be changing him. However, Donald stands by Mark's conviction and good nature.
At the same time, Brit chews out Rex for defying orders and going into the sewers, despite the fact that he actually helped save them all. Brit knows that he can't afford a mutiny in their ranks. Still, the Guardians are on Rex's side and commend him for a job well done.
When they hit the showers, there's a problem. Rex chokes up a sequid and it almost kills him until Monster Girl arrives. Both of them realize how close they came to being destroyed and contemplate whether Mark may have been right in taking more drastic action to destroy these villains.
Back home, Mark is spiraling. With Eve losing her powers too, it's not a good time for either of them. Donald shows up to see Mark and brings him in to see Cecil. Mark tries to justify his actions, as Cecil points out that decisions like killing Rus could change him forever. This is why he makes the decisions for the Guardians rather than letting them go it alone. This also explains why he won't let insubordination fly in the ranks.
Sinclair shows up while Cecil is talking to Mark and apologizes for his experiments. Mark doesn't kill him thankfully, but Cecil is quick to bring up how his Reanimen are one of the best military inventions in human history. Mark doesn't care though and eventually leaves.
Meanwhile, Paul proposes the idea of selling their respective homes and moving into a larger one together. Debbie, however, is conflicted, as they've been living in their current house for 20 years. Unfortunately, things take a tragic turn when Mr. Liu sends Magnattack to attack Titan in the park. Magnattack easily dispatches the guards and then confronts Titan, who kills Magnattack when he tries to harm Titan's family. Isotope witnesses the destruction and suggests that Titan rejoin The Order, but he refuses. Instead, he calls Invincible Inc. for assistance.
At home, Eve is in a state of distress and turns to Mark for comfort. He reassures her and believes that Rex may be able to help explain her powers. However, in the midst of this turmoil, Mark reveals that he killed Rus, and Eve stands by his side. While Eve visits Rex to discuss her powers (where her vital signs appear normal), Oliver arrives to see Titan, answering the call for Invincible Inc. However, there are larger problems at hand.
A portal opens in the middle of the city, bringing the Flaxans out for another invasion of Earth. Cecil explains that they only defeated them last time because Nolan, as Omni-Man, took the fight to their home turf. This time around, things are different. Mark is leading the assault but is not in a communicative mood. The Guardians are also present, and Brit reminds them all that they need to find and destroy their emitter, which will cause the Flaxans to age and die on their planet.
However, the Flaxans are not the same threat the group fought against last time. They have a massive number of reinforcements and even makeshift robots capable of stopping Invincible. More reinforcements are arriving every minute, and Cecil is concerned that within a few hours, they could outnumber the civilians in their city.
As Oliver and Titan arrive to see Mr. Liu, they find him still alive but patched together with robotic parts. Without hesitation, he transforms into a dragon and attacks them. Oliver is left to fend for himself and calls out for Mark's help, but Mark is currently occupied with dealing with the Flaxans.
The emitter is cleverly hidden, and both Robot and Monster Girl head through the portal to take it out. It works, and the Flaxans die out. However, Rex, who doesn't listen to the warning, heads deeper for a closer look. While he does, one soldier manages to scramble through the portal and kills the power, closing it behind him and trapping Rex and Monster Girl.
Meanwhile, Mark shows up to help Oliver, who's looking worse for wear after fighting Mr. Liu alone. This time, the pair work together and help turn the tide of battle. When Liu flies off, Mark turns his anger and frustration onto Titan. He punches the guy repeatedly, as he tries to explain his actions for saving his own family.
Oliver talks him down and the pair fly off, leaving Titan in shock. In fact, this causes Titan to head back to see Machine Head, deciding to join The Order again. Mr. Liu is also here and he's joining The Order too, deciding to turn their attention to making money together in this new world order.
As the episode comes to a close, Eve learns that she's pregnant, which seems to explain why her powers were on the fritz!
