In the opening of Episode 5 of Invincible's fourth season, Allen and Eve are perched on a rooftop, observing Nolan and Mark engage in a tense conversation. Nolan brings up the Coalition of Planets' support, reminding Mark that their fight against the Viltrumites is far from over. Although Mark reluctantly agrees to join the battle, Nolan insists on making things right with Debbie before they go.
Nolan confronts Debbie, who is clearly still hurt by his actions. He apologizes, but she brings up his affair and how it ruined their life. The exchange hits Nolan hard, and he eventually leaves, not before Debbie smacks him in the chest, causing her fist to bleed.
Meanwhile, Tech Jacket is revealed to be a girl named Zoe, who fights crime in an alien suit of armor, with her father overseeing proceedings from an interstellar ship circling the planet. They take on a creature called the Walking Dread before Allen arrives.
Despite Nolan's absence from seeing Oliver (which speaks volumes), the family has one final dinner before the Viltrumite fight takes shape. Nolan visits Art, but their conversation doesn't go very far; Art explains that he only dresses heroes.
Throughout this, Eve keeps a secret from Mark - she's pregnant. She knows that admitting this would stop Mark from going, so she keeps it to herself. There's a touching send-off for Paul, and Oliver and Mark arrive onboard the ship.
Nolan isn't happy about Oliver being there, but Mark convinces him to see sense. He explains that this is Nolan's second chance and that he could make things right with Oliver if he has the chance.
As Oliver grew up, he used to admire Nolan fervently, and it's apparent that Nolan desires to regain that admiration. With Tech Jacket by his side and just two weeks left until they reach their destination, tensions are high between Nolan and the others. However, there's a complication. The Venture comes under attack and ultimately explodes, prompting Mark and the others to venture outside... where they encounter Conquest and several other Viltrumites. Before Conquest can destroy Oliver and crush his skull, Nolan jumps in to save the day. The battle with Conquest spills over to the nearby planet, where Mark does his best to strangle and eliminate the adversary. Conquest smashes his fist through Invincible's body, pulling out his guts, but Mark refuses to let go. He eventually chokes out and kills Conquest, but he's clearly in a precarious condition himself. With the Viltrumite finally defeated, the Empire tries to locate Allen and the others, who are currently hiding out in the wreckage of the ship's hull.
