The premier episode of "Just One Look" kicks off with an enigmatic introduction to Prosecutor Borys Gajewicz, who steps into the foreboding confines of a prison to confront an inmate of notorious infamy—a seasoned hitman who specializes in eliminating men, sparing women from his grim purview. An undeniable tension crackles between them as the inmate, unrepentant yet haunted, vows to set things right, but only on his own terms.

Just One Look – Season 1 Episode 1 1

In a moment of solitude, the inmate confides that in 2009, he was entrusted with a fateful contract. The target’s name was shortened to “Alex,” little knowing that this alias belonged to Borys’ beloved daughter, Alexandra. Guilt gnaws at him, yet he refuses to divulge the mastermind behind the hit until Borys grants him a favor, the nature of which remains shrouded in mystery. Undeterred, Borys Gajewicz embarks on a poignant journey through Alexandra's remnants, seeking clues.

The narrative then shifts to Greta, a woman whose nights are tormented by nightmares stemming from a catastrophic fire at a concert fifteen years prior—a national tragedy in Poland that claimed 28 lives, mostly from the stampede, yet left one miraculous survivor, hailed as the "Angel from the Concert." The perpetrator, arsonist Wiktor Lewinski, looms on the horizon of freedom, his impending release a grim reminder of past horrors.

Greta, her arm scarred by burns as a constant testament to that inferno, grapples with the haunting echoes of the past while nurturing a loving relationship with her partner, Jacek, and their cherished children, Emma and Max. She thrives in her role at a jewelry firm, embraced by her family's warmth. Yet, unaware to her, Borys Gajewicz casts a shadow over her life, his presence an unspoken omen of unfolding revelations.

After having her photos developed, Greta becomes aware of an anomaly among them—a peculiar snapshot containing a blurred visage from the past, a blonde woman whose features are ominously crossed out. Adding to the intrigue, the image also captures Mr. Karol, a notorious gangster whose son, Rafal, perished during a concert tragedy. Each year, Karol sends her roses, a gesture that fills Greta with unease. When she finally confronts him about her discomfort, his reaction is chilling; he crushes a rose in his hand, revealing a bound figure in his greenhouse, their face marred by blood.

Returning home, Greta confronts her husband, Jacek, about the enigmatic photograph. His evasive demeanor and dismissive claims only deepen her suspicions. Seeking solace, she invites her friend Kamila over. However, Kamila too seems to harbor secrets, her eyes betraying a forbidden infatuation with a neighbor. Their illicit pact includes an erotic ritual, flashing each other at precisely 10 PM, climaxing in an illicit encounter that Kamila watches with voyeuristic fascination.

Meanwhile, Jacek leaves for an mysterious meeting, ostensibly with a colleague named Darek, but Greta knows otherwise. Despite his vow to cease lying, Jacek ignores her calls and is later seen being brutally attacked in a parking lot before being forcibly bundled into the trunk of a car.

Worried sick when Jacek fails to return, Greta spends a restless night. The next morning, after seeing her children off, she heads to his workplace only to find him missing. Desperate and unsure of her next steps, she resorts to social media, posting a plea for help on Facebook.

As the episode draws to a close, a striking revelation unfolds. Jimmy, the singer who performed at the fateful concert, is very much alive. He spots Greta's post and his interest is piqued. The reason for his sudden vigilance becomes clear; following the concert disaster, he threatened Greta's life, vowing that she would pay dearly if she ever dared to expose the truth.
