In the beginning of episode 5 of Land of Sin, a flashback shows Ivar and Kimmen discussing the hardships faced by Swedish farmers due to the delay in EU grants. Ivar decides to entrust his gun to Kimmen, who is seen weeping over Silas' bracelet. On the road, Svarten departs, but Malik arrives to rescue Dani, who is overcome and decides to give up. Malik, however, senses something amiss and observes that Oliver's guilt does not equate to confessing to murder, suggesting that something else has transpired.

The episode delves into the troubled relationship between Oliver and Silas. Through flashbacks, we witness Nathalie accompanying Silas when he meets Oliver, who has squandered the money collected to repay Jarven on drugs. The two engage in a fight before Nathalie and Silas leave. In a desperate attempt to secure more time, Silas begs Jarven, who hikes the interest rate. With no means to raise the funds, Silas blackmails the blacksmith and devises an escape plan with Nathalie.
Nathalie believes that Jarven discovered their escape plan and killed Silas, leading her to reveal Jarven's real name, Lennie, to Dani. Dani realizes that Elis lied to her and plans to kill Jarven in revenge for Silas. However, she needs Jarven alive to clear Oliver's name.
The truth unfolds when Malik discovers Harald's car at a junkyard, along with some seashells. The owner's call puts Katty in a panic, as she begs Harald to take the fall for killing Silas. When Elis returns home, Dani confronts him, leading to a heated argument between the family members. Jon leaves in distress, while Dani tries to explain the situation to Malik. She soon realizes that Jon is the actual killer of Silas, with Harald taking the blame for Katty's sake.
The emotional turmoil continues as Dani calls Malik to explain everything that has transpired. She comes to the realization that Jon is responsible for Silas' death, with Harald taking the fall to protect their family's future, especially as Katty needs someone capable of running the farms. The scene ends with an intense emotional battle between the characters' desires for justice and the need for family unity.
Why did Jon kill Silas? As Elis grabs Jon and they go in search of Harald, who is hiding in Synden, Jon confesses to what really happened. A flashback reveals a desperate Silas demanding money from Katty. It seems that Katty has marked the marshy Synden as arable land so they can get the grant for it. Silas goes on about how she owes his family and she kicks him out. She then tells Jon that Elis is soft and that he needs to put Silas in his place. Jon takes Harald’s car and goes after Silas. They argue, but Jon snaps when Silas insults Harald. In a fit of rage, Jon drowns Silas in the sea and panic calls Katty. She burns Silas’ belongings, shifts his body to the river, and dumps the car.
Why is everyone after Harald? Boel has a spy in the junkyard and learns that Malik is snooping around Harald’s car, making him a prime suspect. Boel and her cohort reason that Harald has killed Silas and are furious. Kimmen takes his gun and goes to confront Harald. Meanwhile, Boel and her people head to Katty’s and beat her up.
How does Elis save his sons? Elis calls in his favor with his brother, Ragnar, and requests him to hide his sons. Once he finds Harald in Synden, he sends him away with Jon. Right then, Dani, Malik, and Kimmen show up. Kimmen has his gun and tries to kill Harald. Elis takes the fall but when Kimmen doesn’t believe him, the older man insults Silas. Upset, Kimmen shoots Elis before panicking. Malik grabs the gun and tries to go after Jon. However, Dani stops him and holds a dying Elis’ hand. She reasons that the kids are not at fault and they should not let Elis’ sacrifice be in vain. Malik is hesitant but agrees to stick to the cover story as he realizes he too would do anything for his kids.
