Law and the City – K-drama Episode 7 1

Elsewhere, Kim Hyung-min presents a proposal for a law school internship program to the managing partners, who eventually agree to it. However, Yu-deok can't resist making a snide remark about Hyung-min not truly belonging to the firm. Soon afterward, the fresh-faced interns arrive at the office, greeted by Hyung-min, who expertly guides them through their new surroundings.

The narrative then shifts to Do Mi-gyeong, a woman busy distributing fliers when she receives a text offering emergency loans for individuals with poor credit ratings. Unbeknownst to her, this leads to her being indicted by the prosecution for assisting in a voice phishing scam. Desperate, she hires Chang-won as her public defender and confides in him. She explains that she was contacted by a man named Baek Jung-hyun, who informed her that she needed a transaction history in her bank account to qualify for the loan. To establish this history, she allowed him to transfer money into her account, which she then returned to him in cash. Little did she know, she had unwittingly become a cash mule in a voice phishing scam. Fortunately, Chang-won uncovers a recording of her call with the man.

Later, over coffee with his friends, Chang-won discusses Mi-gyeong's case. Mun-jeong joins in, relating her own case involving a contract worker who hasn't been paid for his labor on a building construction site. Adding to the tension, her client has gone missing for several days, leaving the situation even more precarious.

Chang-won persists in his diligent pursuit of justice in the Do Mi-gyeong case. As he pores over the documentation, a lingering puzzlement gnaws at him—why did the prosecution decide to bring charges against Mi-gyeong when it was patently evident that she was the victim of a deceptive scam? Confessing his qualms to Mun-jeong, he expresses his deep-seated concern over her potential conviction.

Meanwhile, Mun-jeong ventures to a bustling construction site for an on-the-ground assessment. On her journey back home, aboard a crowded train, she witnesses a man appropriating a seat designated for expectant mothers. Mun-jeong fixes him with an unwavering gaze until he concedes and offers the seat to another pregnant woman. Engaging in conversation with her new acquaintance, Mun-jeong receives a badge, a subtle emblem of her own impending motherhood.

Back at the office, Sang-gi assembles the interns, doling out an assignment to craft a case report. Elsewhere, Ju-hyeong attends his school reunion, an event tinged with awkwardness as many of his former classmates have sought his legal counsel over the years. Tae-woo is also present, and a misunderstanding arises when another alumnus mentions his affair, mistakenly believing Ju-hyeong had gossiped about it. Fortunately, the misconception is swiftly dispelled.

Following a dinner gathering with the interns, Mun-jeong and her companions find themselves in the same eatery where Ju-hyeong and his classmates are dining. Ji-hoon, one of Ju-hyeong’s friends, recognizes Hee-ji as the woman Ju-hyeong encountered in Hong Kong. Intrigued, Ji-hoon attempts to coerce Ju-hyeong into arranging a blind date with Hee-ji, but Ju-hyeong deflects with a playful lie, claiming Hee-ji despises such setups.

Later, Ju-hyeong and Hee-ji make their way to the bus stop. Hee-ji confides that she overheard their conversation about her and inquires about his fondest memory from their Hong Kong escapade. A nostalgic flashback ensues, depicting them enjoying lunch at a quaint restaurant and wandering through the vibrant cityscape. Ju-hyeong even purchases a bracelet that Hee-ji had admired. In the present moment, Ju-hyeong declares that every fleeting second of that journey was etched in his heart as his cherished moment.

Chang-won stands resolute in court, championing Mi-gyeong’s innocence in the voice phishing case. Upon returning to the office, Ha Sang-gi resumes his mentoring of the interns, with a surprising twist—Hyung-min joins the session and is even tasked with homework by Sang-gi, adding an unexpected layer to the learning experience.

Mun-jeong's client from the intricate construction case finally graces her office with his presence. He confesses to having been swept away by emotion and subsequently avoiding any action related to the matter, yet he expresses awe at Mun-jeong's extensive knowledge and familiarity with every minute detail of the construction project. Soon after, Hyung-min surprises everyone by sending opulent lunar new year gifts, featuring live lobsters, to all the lawyers. As the lawyers eagerly unwrap their presents, a tender moment unfolds between managing partner Kim Ryu-jin and Sang-gi. To Yu-deok's chagrin, he discovers that his gift is not as lavish as those received by his colleagues.

With the holiday season upon them, everyone heads home to be with their families, offering a glimpse into each lawyer's personal life. Ju-hyeong, however, finds himself drawn back to the office despite the break still being in effect. To his astonishment, he encounters Hee-ji lingering outside the building. They mutually decide to venture out for dinner, only to find that all the restaurants are shuttered for the holiday. Ju-hyeong suggests they head to Gangnam Station, reminding Hee-ji of the 24-hour restaurant she had discovered there on the very day Ju-hyeong had supposedly stood her up. Ju-hyeong clarifies that he had indeed shown up but had been unable to locate her.

The misunderstanding regarding their previous appointment resurfaces, prompting Ju-hyeong to urge Hee-ji to be more articulate about her feelings in the future. In response, she plants a kiss on his cheek and asks if that makes her intentions sufficiently clear. He, in turn, reciprocates with a kiss of his own.

Meanwhile, the remaining three lawyers converge at the office and order food amidst the holiday closure. Finding themselves in a similar predicament, Ju-hyeong and Hee-ji also return to the office. Upon seeing his colleagues, Ju-hyeong hastily withdraws his hand from Hee-ji's.

The following day, Hee-ji's life takes a sudden turn for the worse when her uncle is apprehended by the authorities.
