Episode 1 of "Love Your Enemy" unfolds with Yoon Ji-won awakening from a haunting dream, where she finds herself as a high school student eagerly awaiting someone's arrival. As the narrative progresses, a bitter feud between the Yoon and Seok families is revealed, casting a dark shadow over their interactions. Yoon Jae-ho, Ji-won's grandfather and the chairman of the school where she works, prepares for a pivotal board meeting that will determine if the school's ownership will pass into the hands of the Seok family's company. Jae-ho stands firmly against this transfer, as Seok Gyung-tae, the patriarch of the Seok family, has sinister plans to replace the school with a golf course.
At this crucial juncture, Seok Gyung-tae's son, Seok Ji-won, returns from Dubai just when the board votes in favor of the transfer. Contrary to his father's expectations, Ji-won opposes the golf course plan and expresses no desire to become the chairman of the school. However, fate has other plans when he learns from his high school friends that Yoon Ji-won has somehow forgotten him. Skeptical yet curious, he decides to confront her himself.
Upon visiting the school, he finds Yoon Ji-won seemingly ignoring him, which only fuels his growing frustration. Unbeknownst to Seok Ji-won, Yoon Ji-won had experienced a series of mishaps that morning, losing her contact lenses and later breaking her glasses, rendering her blind to his presence. Misinterpreting her apparent indifference as deliberate snobbery, Seok Ji-won, feeling slighted and misunderstood, declares to his father that he will take over as chairman.
Flashbacks to their shared past as childhood rivals add depth to their complex relationship. While Yoon Ji-won shone academically, Seok Ji-won carved his own niche, becoming the student council president. Their competitive spirit led to a memorable high school bet: if Seok Ji-won scored higher on the finals, Yoon Ji-won would agree to date him; if she won, he would address her as "noona" (a term of endearing respect for an older woman) until graduation. Yoon Ji-won emerged victorious, but before Seok Ji-won could fulfill his end of the bet, he mysteriously led her to a nearby park, hinting at an unspoken confession on the horizon.
The episode flashbacks to the present moment, where Seok Ji-won encounters the soon-to-be school principal and persists in his request to meet the educators. As the episode draws to a close, Yoon Ji-won awakens from another vivid dream revisiting her high school days, still sans her glasses.
