Mad Concrete Dreams – K-drama Episode 8 1

In the present, Hee-joo invites Su-jong to her office for a drink, warning him not to trust Sang-ho too much, as he is manipulative, selfish, and money-grabbing. She reminds Su-jong that he still owes her a bonus for helping close the deal on Mr. Kim's building, so he gives her some gift cards. In his drunken state, Su-jong opens up about his marital problems. Hee-joo suggests filing for divorce, as he will have an advantage in splitting assets and custody. Su-jong still loves his wife and thinks he is the fool for loving her more than she does him.

It soon becomes clear that Hee-joo had ulterior motives for getting Su-jong drunk. She records their conversations and takes suggestive photos of them. She sends them to Hwal-sung, proposing a deal. At the same time, Hwal-sung is preparing to accuse Yi-gyeong of domestic violence.

The next morning, when Su-jong wakes up, he finds Hee-joo dead. Simultaneously, Hwal-sung approaches Kim-sun with the recording, telling her that Su-jong is preparing to backstab her and file for divorce. Since he knows everything about Yi-gyeong's kidnapping and Dong-gi's and Yang-ja's deaths, he suggests pinning them on Su-jong to get the most out of the divorce.

It turns out that Hwal-sung has had feelings for Kim-sun since the first time Su-jong introduced them, and had been wishing for their breakup. He wonders if he had confessed his feelings, they would have gotten married, which offends Kim-sun. Still, he tries to make her agree to work together during the divorce and get everything from Su-jong.

In conclusion, the episode reveals the complex relationships and motivations of the characters involved in Mad Concrete Dreams, as they navigate their way through betrayal, manipulation, and deceit.

Kim-sun urgently contacts Su-jong to clarify Hwal-sung's accusations, urging him to head straight to Hee-joo's office. Shocked and devastated upon arrival, they discover Hee-joo's lifeless body. When Su-jong learns about the recording, he assumes that Hwal-sung orchestrated the entire situation, using Hee-joo as a means to create a rift between them. They had previously reached an understanding, and now it seems Hwal-sul is attempting to undermine their alliance.

Meanwhile, Da-rae has been accepted into Harvard but chooses to keep this secret from her parents. The teacher calls to invite them to a party, while Da-rae ignores Kim-sun's calls.

At Hee-joo's office, Kim-sun and Su-jong agree that calling the police isn't the best option due to Su-jong's recent involvement in Yi-gyeong's kidnapping. They fear the police would not hesitate to arrest him for Hee-joo's murder. Instead, they decide to gather evidence that proves his innocence before taking any drastic action. They come up with a plan to move Hee-joo's body and cover up the crime scene.

Given that the cameras captured Su-jong entering the office with Hee-joo, they decide to make it seem like he helped her leave, as she was visibly drunk. They use the camera blind spots around her building to transport the body out a window and dispose of it in the redevelopment zone.

While Hwal-sung hires protesters to oppose the redevelopment, Su-jong and Kim-sun learn that Da-rae is aware of their involvement in Yi-gyeong's kidnapping. Kim-sun tries to convince her that it's a misunderstanding, but she refuses to listen.

Su-jong receives a text from Sang-ho instructing him to take care of Hwal-sung. When he finds him, Hwal-sung reveals that he got a lawyer to make him the owner of one of the buildings, so the redevelopment won't go through without his signature.

Su-jong endeavors to uncover the truth behind Hee-joo's demise, yet Hwal-sung remains in the dark. Su-jong reveals to him that Yi-gyeong is carrying a child, a revelation that adds a new dimension to the already convoluted situation.

Meanwhile, Yi-gyeong's lingering doubts about her captors are dispelled when Dong-chul presents her with the recorded evidence. Her thirst for vengeance prompts her to request Dong-chul and his men to kidnap Da-rae and ensure she undergoes the same ordeal she endured. A text from Da-rae, expressing a desire to confess and seek forgiveness, leads the two to Yang-ja's memorial, where Yi-gyeong presents her with a choice. Seeking solace in the warmth of a family, Yi-gyeong urges Da-rae to forsake her parents and become her own. Da-rae, however, stands firm in her refusal.

Yi-gyeong then orders Dong-chul and his henchmen to carry out the abduction. As the episode nears its conclusion, Kim-sun arrives at Yang-ja's memorial, where Da-rae had requested a meeting, only to find her missing. Alarmed by their daughter's disappearance, Kim-sun frantically calls Su-jong.

The tense atmosphere builds as each character grapples with their respective emotions and motivations, weaving a narrative that is both intricate and emotionally charged.
