Episode 5 of "Made in Korea" opens with a flashback to 1965, where Gi-tae is fighting in the Vietnam War. He doesn't care about the cause of the war; all he needs to do is kill to survive. In the present, Pyo informs Cheon that everything is in order, hinting that they had planned Hwang's murder with Gi-tae. For his alibi, Pyo pretends to buy cigarettes and then comes to "pick up" Hwang. Jang arrests him for murder and during the interrogation, tries to turn him against Gi-tae. Meanwhile, Gi-tae gives Cheon the money that Hwang stole from him, along with Geum-ji's notebook which actually exists and has Cheon's name. Gi-tae wants the 1 billion won as an investment and will use it to raise 70 billion for the president's reelection. Cheon accepts it but warns him not to overplay his hand. As expected, Cheon has Pyo freed. Jang is furious, but his boss, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Seo and his team warn him not to cross Cheon.

During the next cabinet meeting, rivals Na and Cheon verbally spar. Na is upset that Cheon had Gi-tae kill Geum-ji and is also annoyed that the President is currently favoring Cheon. Pyo returns to the KCIA HQ, and Gi-tae is suspicious of him. He knows there's a rat who told Jang about the Japanese deal, and he soon realizes it's Dae-il. It turns out that Dae-il is hooking up with Gi-tae's sister, So-yeong. Gi-tae sends her away and plays Russian Roulette with Dae-il until the thug apologizes and comes clean.
Gi-tae has Dae-il send Jang on a wild goose chase with a fake drug delivery, then pays him to lay low. Cheon begins an internal investigation of corruption in Jang's Narcotics Division, which makes Jang furious. But Seo reveals that they are powerless. However, Seo is not taking this interference lying down. He meets with Na and tells him of Cheon backing Gi-tae, a potential drug dealer.
In Japan, a harsh crackdown on the meth business has swept through the land, forcing all yakuza clans to surrender. However, Yuji, defiant and determined, insists that she will restart the operation with the help of South Korea. Her clan is skeptical, and Chairman Ikeda warns her that this is her only chance. She meets with Cheon, hoping to have a replacement ready in case Gi-tae fails. Cheon is amused by her plan, but she believes Gi-tae is an easy target due to his siblings being his weakness. Jang shares the same sentiment.
Elsewhere, Gi-tae's brother, Ki-hyun, is doing his best to protect Private Hong, a victim of bullying in his platoon. Unable to take the abuse any longer, Hong shoots his bullies. Ki-hyun is blamed for this, but he hits back by testifying that the company commander shot down Hong's transfer request. The Company Commander, with his influence and desire for power, wants Ki-hyun to be the scapegoat. He is investigated by his former classmate, Nam, who enjoys lording over him. Nam tries to make a deal, but Ki-hyun refuses, believing he can take down the Company Commander.
Jang arrives and tells Ki-hyun about Gi-tae's drug business. He claims that if Ki-tae is arrested, both Ki-hyun and So-yeong will also go down. He offers a deal, but Ki-hyun storms off in anger. Pyo warns Gi-tae that Jang is out of control, but Gi-tae insists he'll handle it when he gets news of Ki-hyun's investigation. He beats up Ki-hyun's superior and gets the Company Commander and Investigator Nam fired. Instead, Ki-hyun replaces Nam. However, Ki-hyun is upset that Gi-tae is playing dirty on his behalf and wants to earn his power on his own terms. He decides to go to Vietnam.
Gi-tae is furious that his brother is ungrateful and tells him to deal with his own problems first. He also informs him of Jang's visit. Overwhelmed by this news, Gi-tae decides that he will never back down to anyone. He will make others kneel before him, even if they are more powerful than him.
The scene cuts to someone jumping Jang while he's out getting dinner for his team.
