Malditos – Season 1 Episode 4 1

Convinced they've been set up, Tony and his men storm back to Manu, armed to the teeth, demanding he reveal the location of the camper. Meanwhile, Jo, lurking nearby, steals a scooter and watches with concealed amusement as Tony and his crew roar past with their prize. Once Tony and his team hit the road, Manu and his crew give chase in a truck and car, setting the stage for a heart-stopping shootout. In the fray, one of Tony’s men takes down the driver of the pursuing car, causing a roadblock but suffering a fatal shot in return. Tony swiftly pulls over, allowing his crew to escape in a getaway car while he stays behind with the camper. Not long after, Jo arrives on his scooter, and a tense spat ensues over possession of the camper before Tony hops in and speeds off.

Tony returns the camper to the community, where curiosity buzzes about Miguel's whereabouts. To everyone's astonishment, a man emerges from the camper's rear, revealing he's been living there for the past four or five years in the projects. Tony recounts how he brokered a deal with the gypsies to reclaim the camper. One community member turns to Sara (Celine Sallette), inquiring about the messages she was supposed to receive from Miguel in Spain. She ponders aloud that perhaps Miguel wanted them to believe he was deceased. Another member suggests this might be the proof Juan (Damien Bonnard) needs to relent and allow them to use his land. Sara doubts he'll ever believe them. Plans are hastily devised to conceal the camper.

Elsewhere, Jo witnesses the Baroncellis' raid and wisely veers off in the opposite direction on his scooter. Meanwhile, Tony attempts to explain to Sara why the gypsies betrayed him. She shoulders the blame, insisting it's all her fault for involving him in the mess. She resolutely declares that from now on, he should have nothing more to do with such matters and should instead focus on visiting Leti (Rika Hazanavicius).

As Tony heads off to visit Leti, his journey is abruptly halted by Jo, who eagerly seeks to share something with him. However, their conversation quickly devolves into a heated argument, prompting Tony to hastily speed away. Left behind, Jo makes a fateful decision, consuming the drugs and concealing them. Shortly after, he encounters a fellow community member who fills him in on the presence of a gadjo within their midst and Sara's reluctance to expel him. The community member also relates an old tale: seven years prior, Ruben had visited, warning of Miguel's war with the project gypsies, a conflict fueled by drugs.

Elsewhere, a wounded member of Tony's crew undergoes stitching for his injury, the scene serving as a grim backdrop for their subsequent conversation about Tony and the cocaine. They ultimately concur to set Tony aside, his agitated state rendering him unreliable.

Sara convenes with a group of Amayas to discuss Leti's future. She warns that if Leti marries Tony, other women will clamor for a say, a scenario Juan fiercely opposes. Sara points out that a similar fate awaits them, yet they may lack support when it strikes. Leti's mother, steadfast in her love and readiness to sacrifice, insists she is present to ensure Leti's well-being, even if it means reversing her stance towards Sara.

When Tony finally reaches Leti, he finds her astride a horse with Sandro. His sudden appearance sparks a physical altercation, leaving Leti fallen and confused. She demands to know why Tony rejected her yesterday yet seeks her today. He assures her his intentions are steadfast, pledging eternal commitment. Leti, unconvinced, suggests marriage as a test of his sincerity. Tony's silence fuels her frustration; she accuses him of being all words and no deeds. After his departure, Leti confesses to Sandro that her heart does not belong to him, but fears her father will force her into another arranged marriage should Sandro leave.

Jo is jolted awake by his barking dog in the dead of night. Venturing outside to investigate, he catches sight of Sara tiptoeing towards Miguel's camper, gently rehanging a saint on its exterior. The gadjo, uncertain of his next steps, reveals his plight to Sara, who generously offers him refuge. They exchange fleeting words about his journey that led him to this place.

Sara then places a call to Tony, leaving a voice mail, vowing to mediate with Leti and restore harmony.

As Leti and her friend engaged in a lively discussion about Tony and Sandro while folding laundry, their conversation was abruptly halted by a community member who informed Leti that Sara wished to speak with her. Meanwhile, Juan became acutely aware of the resentment harbored by the women of the community towards him due to his opposition to Leti's marriage to Tony. Seeking his wife's opinion, he found her urging flexibility in the face of changing times. He instructed her to return Leti's phone but cautioned against provoking the Torres clan.

In her conversation with Sara, Leti confessed her desire to be with a genuine man. Sara, acknowledging Tony's current turmoil, assured her that he was capable of love and change, especially with Leti's strong influence by his side. However, Leti admitted her uncertainty about her feelings for Tony. Sara, revealing that many of their clan were dispersing, stressed that marriage to Tony had been their last hope for unity. Leti, unwilling to shoulder the blame, emphasized that Sara had dug her own grave.

That night, Leti found herself contemplating old photographs of her, Tony, and the Torres clan. The following morning, Sandro awoke to a grim discovery: Leti's horse had been brutally slain. Armed with a gun, he set out in search of Tony, only to encounter Miguel's camper instead. He returned to relay this information to Juan, who promptly announced it to the entire clan. Juan cleverly framed the narrative, suggesting that Sandro's confrontation with Tony was a protective act against Leti, and implicitly blaming Tony for the horse's death. He then posed the question of whether they truly desired such neighbors, prompting a vote on whether the Torres clan should be allowed to stay. To his disappointment, no one voted in favor of their departure.

Sara confided in Jo, sharing that Kalia had informed her about a sighting of Miguel's camper. She further highlighted the women's continued disapproval of Tony, even after his altercation with Sandro. She urged Jo to disseminate this information, citing his own exhaustion as a reason. This led to a heated exchange, intertwined with Jo's incessantly barking dog and Sara's defiance in allowing outsiders to occupy Miguel's camper and wear his clothes. Amidst their argument, a community member, exasperated by the noise, shot the dog. Jo, unable to cope with the tragedy, stormed off to pack his belongings, ultimately leaving with the deceased animal to give it a proper burial.

Elsewhere, Tony was engaged in target practice when he was ambushed and brutally beaten by a group of men. The episode concluded on a solemn note, with Jo digging a grave for his loyal companion.
