In the second episode of "Man on Fire," Poe is shown to be filled with nervousness as she prepares for the interview. Creasy, her guide and protector, advises her to set aside her emotions and approach the puzzle of her family's murder with a clear head. However, he also expresses his concern for her well-being and doesn't want her to undergo any more pain.
As Soares' men transport Creasy and Poe to the US embassy, Osmar's men launch an attack. Creasy orders a detour to the closest military base and hangar, and Osmar's men fall back. Creasy believes there's a leak in the chain of command and refuses to let Soares or anyone else interview Poe. Soares is hesitant but agrees.
Creasy's methods are unconventional, but he successfully gets Poe to relive the memories. She not only identifies the two white vans heading towards the complex, but she also remembers seeing the biker's face. She breaks down, and while Creasy is surprised, he gives her space.
Soares is impressed and agrees to work with Creasy. However, he fears that having a purpose now may bring out the worst in Creasy. While Soares heads out to debrief the president, a private jet is readied to take Poe to the USA. She wants to stay with Creasy, but he convinces her to get on the plane.
Right then, Osmar's men arrive, and a gunfight ensues. Creasy takes one of the shooters, Tiago, hostage and drives off with Poe in a local's car. Elsewhere, Gabi worries for Melo's daughter who has shut down after the murder of Melo's husband. Gabi believes it is not safe for them and wants Melo and the girl to move to the USA. Creasy calls for help and Melo agrees in exchange for legal relocation.
Next, he calls Tappen, his old CIA boss who had greenlighted the mission that killed his team. Tappen agrees to provide cash, protection, and a plane for Poe.
Melo takes Creasy and Poe to a favela, a low-income neighborhood, where her cousin is part of the local police. Poe sees a chess set in the safehouse and reminisces how Rayburn tried to teach her that navigating life is like playing chess. Creasy smiles for the first time as it was he who taught Rayburn chess.
Poe has questions about Tiago and how the interrogation will go, and Creasy doesn't hide what he is about to do. Melo sees her daughter in Poe and hangs out with her. They end up bonding over Brazilian chicken nuggets and their shared loneliness.
During the interrogation, Tiago easily breaks down. It turns out that he and his men are just part of a local gang that Osmar, who is part of FRP, hired for a hit after the bombing. Osmar also knew that Creasy and Poe would go to the military hangar for the detour.
Meanwhile, the CIA reaches out to the Brazilian government to lend a hand to Creasy. However, President Carmo doesn't trust Creasy, labeling him as a loose cannon. He's hesitant to help as it wouldn't look good for the optics. At the end of the episode, Creasy devises a plan to get Tiago to lead him to Osmar, but he needs Poe's assistance.
