Elsewhere, Rowan tidies herself up and descends into the basement to check on Lasher, her concern spiking when she discovers his absence. Her reflections are abruptly interrupted by a call from Lark, updating her on the DNA analysis. Regrettably, Lark encounters an anomaly, suggesting that her patient is not of human origin, and his curiosity piqued, he begins probing deeper. Rowan curtly halts his inquiries, urging him to persist with the DNA research.

As the velvet night deepens its hues, Lasher finds refuge in Gifford's abode. To Gifford's bewilderment yet familiarity-tinged acceptance, she welcomes him in. Their conversation soon segues into a tender embrace, leading to a passionate interlude. But as Gifford drifts into slumber, Lasher reaches for milk in her fridge, only to be jolted by her cries of distress and agony. He rushes to her side, enfolding her in his arms, but it's to no avail; she bleeds out, her life slipping through his fingers.

Meanwhile, Cortland remains ensnared in a waking nightmare, transformed into stone. This time, his father materializes, voraciously devouring every morsel on the dining table while Cortland, bound by an unseen force, continually refills his plate. His father's vitriol stings, accusing him of perpetual inadequacy. When the table is cleared, Cortland is compelled to offer his own left hand as a final meal. In reality, Rowan brings Jojo to Cortland's stone figure, shocked when Jojo implores her not to liberate their father but to seek another path to uncover Lasher's intentions.

Their conversation is interrupted by the tragic news of Gifford's demise. Rowan and Jojo rush to her house, where an abandoned milk bottle in a shadowy corner clues Rowan in on Lasher's guilt. Guided by his scent, she ventures deep into the woods, where Lasher lurks, elusive and requesting her aid. He refuses to reveal himself unless she shuts her eyes, and once she complies, he unburdens his soul: he never meant to slay the Mayfair women; their scent enchants him, but intimacy triggers an unspeakable curse.

Rowan attempts to coerce him into accompanying her, but he pierces through her manipulations, steadfastly refusing to resume cohabitation with her. He accuses her of seeking dominion over him, escalating tensions between them to a perilous degree. Lasher forcefully repels Rowan and takes flight, while she, relentless, pursues him with lethal intent. Alas, Lasher eludes her capture and slips into concealment. Later, he is glimpsed extracting a bug embedded in his arm and nourishing it with his own blood.

The following day, Ciprien visits Arjuna's abode to retrieve a trust fob. He cautions her against using it on Moira, yet she persists, citing the dwindling time they possess. As their conversation deepens, Arjuna confesses she has been experiencing memory blanks. Ciprien elucidates that Albrecht must be the culprit, having erased her memories irretrievably. He further confesses his distrust in Albrecht, albeit committed to their mission.

Meanwhile, Rowan returns to her abode, immersing herself in the study of her family's lineage. Millie's ghost persists in blaming her for sparing Lasher's life, convinced that Rowan harbors designs on maintaining her powers through him. Nonetheless, Rowan remains resolute in her pursuit of Lasher, aiming to halt his grim spree of hunting Mayfair women.

Elsewhere, Moira struggles to forge a bond with her mother, seeking solace in the company of childhood friends at the local tavern. Ciprien approaches her, granting her permission to delve into his mind to forge trust. She perceives his lingering affection for Rowan. He inquires about her desire to confront Lasher, and Moira reveals her intent to read his mind, seeking the truth behind Tessa's demise.

As dusk descends, Rowan initiates a tempestuous ritual, aiming to obscure the scent of Mayfair women from Lasher's keen senses. Her incantations are abruptly interrupted by Lark's unexpected arrival. Though she declines to invite him in, she agrees to escort him to his hotel while discussing the DNA analysis. Lark's inquisitiveness grows as Rowan becomes increasingly evasive, constructing a facade of assimilation into her new family and role. Lark, increasingly curious, discloses the discovery of four novel chromosomes, prompting Rowan to urge him to persist with further tests.

Concurrently, Lasher visits Alicia, who proceeds to coquette with him, reminiscing fondly about the times he would grace their home with his presence to see Deidre. Their conversation quickly evolves into intimacy, but it terminates abruptly with Alicia's demise. Returning home, Moira discovers her mother slumped on the sofa, life ebbing from her wounds. In a rush of emotion, she contacts Ciprien, urgently requesting his presence.

The tidings of Alicia's passing spread swiftly. Jojo interrupts Rowan's conversation with Lark, his voice tinged with urgency as he declares his suspicion that Lasher is the one claiming the lives of the Mayfair women. Rowan, concurring with his assessment, learns from Jojo that Ciprien has already rushed to Alicia's abode. The scene shifts to Ciprien, his magical abilities deployed to unravel the mystery surrounding Alicia's fate. To his horrified gaze, Lasher stands unmoved, witnessing Alicia's life slowly drain away.

Following Jojo's call, Rowan liberates Cortland, who remains ensnared by haunting visions of his abusive father. At the precise moment Rowan frees him, Cortland manages to break free from the mental chains forged by his tyrannical upbringing. When Rowan inquires about Lasher's motives, she is taken aback by Cortland's ignorance on the matter. Cortland attempts to apologize for his past conduct, blaming his childhood experiences, but Rowan remains steadfast in her refusal to grant him forgiveness.

She commands Cortland to gather the family and bring them to the house, informing him unequivocally that she is now his master. The episode concludes with an ominous scene: Cortland's father attempting to summon Rowan, likely to caution her against trusting a man as useless and selfish as Cortland.
