The second chapter of "Melo-Movie" unfolds with Moo-bi musing deeply on her tendency to form attachments effortlessly, particularly towards individuals and objects tinged with a hint of pathos. Yet, she remains puzzled by her intense connection to Ko-gyeom, as he embodies the very opposite of pitiful. This contemplation persists even as their lips meet in a tender kiss, only to be abruptly interrupted by Ko-gyeom's mysterious vanishing act. Days blend into months, and months into years, yet Ko-gyeom fails to reappear in Moo-bi's life.
Transitioning to her new role as an assistant director for a renowned filmmaker, Moo-bi heeds her mentor's counsel to immerse herself in her work as a therapeutic outlet. She throws herself into her career with unwavering dedication.
Meanwhile, the veil is lifted on the circumstances surrounding Ko-gyeom's disappearance. His brother had suffered a catastrophic accident, prompting Ko-gyeom to devote himself relentlessly to his care. Amidst this, he also embarked on a relentless search for employment to support them both. Ultimately, he secured a position as a movie critic, juggling his duties while steadfastly attending to his wheelchair-bound brother.
Five years had elapsed when Ko-gyeom and Moo-bi's paths unexpectedly converged once more at the glittering premiere of her maiden cinematic venture. Amidst a captivating question-and-answer session, Ko-gyeom inquisitively posed to her the rationale behind the melancholic, fatalistic conclusion of her romantic film. Moo-bi, however, remained mute, her silence leaving Ko-gyeom to later ponder with regret upon his inquiry.
Meanwhile, Si-jun's aspirations in the music industry remained a distant dream, as he toiled away at part-time jobs. In stark contrast, Ju-a had not only severed her ties with Si-jun but had also estranged herself from Ko-gyeom, ultimately carving a niche as a screenwriter.
Fortuitously, Ko-gyeom's path crossed once again with Director Mo, under whom he had once toiled as an extra. The reunion elated the entire team, who warmly welcomed him back. He accompanied the director to a "retrospective" honoring Moo-bi's mentor, where fate played its hand once more, reuniting him with Moo-bi. This encounter, however, was charged with tension as Moo-bi confronted him about his abrupt disappearance, her questions tumbling out in frustration: "Were you ill? Did someone close to you pass away? Did you commit a crime and find yourself incarcerated?" Ko-gyeom, unable to articulate a satisfactory response, watched helplessly as Moo-bi stormed off, her parting shot a harsh command for him to never darken her door again.
Ironically, the very next day, Moo-bi discovered that Ko-gyeom had inadvertently become her next-door neighbor!
In the epilogue, we unearth a pivotal moment from three years prior: Ko-gyeom had glimpsed Moo-bi and eagerly sought to reconnect. Yet, an urgent call to the hospital compelled him to abandon his plans. By the time he attempted to reach her later that day, he found that she had placed an insurmountable barrier between them by blocking him. A cascade of adverse circumstances had kept them apart, leading to the tangled web of emotions and circumstances that now bound them.
