Episode 4 of "Melo Movie" kicks off with Ko-gyeom embarking on a somber journey to visit his parents' columbarium, only to be thwarted by an untimely car breakdown. Compelled to proceed on foot, he finds solace in pondering how a chain of misfortunes can sometimes weave an unanticipated tapestry of joy—a notion that takes on new meaning when he chance encounters Moo-bi along the way.
Concurrently, Ko-gyeom receives an enticing offer to assume the prestigious role of lead critic at a magazine, accompanied by a significant salary hike. As he steps into this new responsibility, Moo-bi observes a marked transformation in his reviews; they become increasingly incisive and unadulterated. Elsewhere, Ju-a finalizes her collaboration with Moo-bi for the film, negotiating to spearhead the music curation, to which Moo-bi accedes, but with a stipulation that she retains the ultimate decision-making power.
Elsewhere in the narrative, a fleeting glimpse offers insight into Si-jun's fraught relationship with his affluent family. His mother offers him money merely as an incentive to visit, revealing a family that remains largely aloof to his personal life.
Later, Ko-gyeom and Moo-bi find themselves sharing a red carpet experience at a movie premiere. However, the evening's magic evaporates for Ko-gyeom as soon as the credits roll; consumed by worry over his brother's health, he makes a hasty retreat home. Meanwhile, Ju-a seeks out Si-jun, unveiling that the story she has penned bears his likeness and pleading for his assistance in composing its accompanying music. As Ko-gyeom's footprint in the entertainment industry expands, he finds himself increasingly in the spotlight, with television appearances and interviews becoming a regular part of his routine. However, one of his critiques, particularly harsh and directed towards a renowned director's works, stirs up a tempest of controversy.
The following day, the air is thick with turmoil when reports emerge that the director has attempted suicide, and fingers are quickly pointed at Ko-gyeom by both the media and the public. In a rush of concern, he heads to the hospital but is barred from seeing the director by tight security. Later, he encounters Director Mo and Moo-bi, but in Mo's absence, another director confronts him, his words lashing out like a storm, accusing Ko-gyeom of being arrogant and reckless with his criticism. Despite Moo-bi's attempts to soothe him, Ko-gyeom retreats into a shell of emotion, shutting her out, until she reluctantly leaves him to grapple with his thoughts alone.
Elsewhere, Si-jun is left reeling by Ju-a's unexpected return, his mind struggling to comprehend her presence back in his life.
Meanwhile, Moo-bi visits the hospitalized director and uncovers a piece of history - he was once a close friend of her father's. She also learns that his hospitalization was merely a tragic accident, but the media has sensationalized the story, dragging Ko-gyeom into a whirlwind of controversy. At the hospital, she discovers Ko-gyeom sitting silently outside the director's room, a somber figure who has remained there, steadfast and unseen, throughout the ordeal.
The episode concludes with Ko-gyeom whispering to Moo-bi, "I want to feel that connection with you again."
