Angelo questions Maria about the incident, and she informs him that Nicky had called to alert her about the attack. Maria places the blame on Dave for not being attentive to her concerns about Earl. She then confides in Jeff about how she's been coping with her mother's death and asks him to take her back to their house. Maria expresses a desire to retrace her steps and figure out what happened on the night Earl tried to attack her.

Dave apologizes to Jeff for putting Maria's life in danger. Jeff draws a line in the sand, reminding him that Maria chose him. At the house, Maria tries to recall the events from that night and remembers that Angelo shot Earl from a distance. She wonders how her father managed to do that and decides to speak with him

Linda visits Angelo's New York apartment and discovers case files documenting his victims over the years. While going through them, Angelo reaches out to Nicky and asks her to help him trap Linda. Angelo hands over a flash drive containing evidence against Linda to her partner, Agent Roberts. The FBI commences an investigation into Linda for manipulating suspects and witnesses in existing cases for a personal vendetta. Agent Roberts warns Linda about her suspension and advises her to get Nicky to testify in her favor.

Meanwhile, Nicky tells Angelo that she didn't know what Linda was asking her to do. She agrees to help him and confesses that she has started to develop feelings for him.

Later, Linda requests a private meeting with Nicky, who agrees. Angelo and Joe wait to confront Linda, but she sends an assassin to attack instead. While Angelo engages the attacker in combat, Nicky is fatally stabbed. Joe manages to plant a tracker on Linda's car as she escapes, and Nicky dies after apologizing to Angelo.

Maria confronts Angelo about killing someone and being unfazed. Angelo, a former Marine, tells her that killing Earl doesn't bother him. He reassures her and leaves to meet Linda. However, Maria tells Jeff that she's still not sure she can trust her father.

Joe asks to join Angelo in going after Linda, but Angelo refuses and follows her alone. Outside, Angelo sets up a rifle to kill her. Linda notices and sends him a message asking to meet in private.

Angelo goes to the abandoned factory but receives a message from Maria saying she's going into labour. He still meets Linda and confronts her about Leah's murder. Linda threatens him, but Joe arrives and holds her at gunpoint, waiting for Angelo to act.

Angelo refuses to kill Linda and starts to leave, but she calls in her gunmen. A shootout follows, and with limited bullets, Angelo and Joe struggle to hold their ground. Joe steps outside and draws fire, allowing Angelo to kill the gunmen and Linda.

Joe is shot during the fight, and Angelo rushes him to the hospital. Joe survives, while Angelo briefly forgets Maria's name due to memory loss. Jeff brings him to see Maria and her new-born son, Liam.

While Joe is still unconscious, Dutch talks to Angelo about leaving the assassin business. Joe briefly wakes and mentions Angelo's daughter, confusing Dutch. Later that night, Angelo meets Dutch at a restaurant and says he wants a say in choosing future clients. Dutch questions him about Joe's comment, but Angelo avoids telling him the truth about Maria.

The episode ends with Maria arriving at Angelo's New York apartment after reading the victim case files that Linda had sent her, seeking answers. The tension between father and daughter is palpable as Maria confronts him about his actions and their complex relationship is further explored.
