In the ninth episode of "Memory of a Killer," the story unfolds with Dutch facing an attack at his restaurant by two men accompanying Stefanie Gilchrist. Stefanie warns Dutch about not keeping Angelo in check and orders her men to kill him while she waits outside. Dutch valiantly fights off the attackers and kills both of them.
The episode shifts to Angelo trying to reach out to Nicky, who has been unresponsive to his calls. He finds Linda's business card at Maria's house and becomes increasingly concerned. He speaks to Maria about the security cameras when Dutch calls him.
Meanwhile, Joe cleans up the bodies left behind by Dutch, while Angelo asks him to run a background check on Nicky. Dutch reveals that Stefanie is targeting them and that he has kidnapped her. Angelo is upset with Dutch for hiding the truth to protect him. He calls Dutch untrustworthy and decides to use Stefanie to track down The Ferryman.
Elsewhere, Linda's friend visits her house to check on her and speaks about her alcohol addiction, urging her to attend meetings. Inside, Linda has a murder board with details about Angelo, his family, and his friends.
Angelo goes to Nicky's real address, given by Joe. He meets the building super, who tells him that Nicky was accused of killing her husband and was later released, with the FBI involved in the case. Angelo experiences a moment of brain fog as he leaves and receives a call from Michael, who asks to see him.
Linda meets Earl and asks him to take down Maria and Michael, along with Angelo. Earl says Maria's security system makes an attack difficult, but Linda pushes him to try, revealing that she has arranged for a nurse to deal with Michael.
Nicky waits to meet Linda at a restaurant, recalling agreeing to infiltrate Angelo's life to secure her future and the safety of her daughter. In the present, Linda tells Nicky that she plans to send someone to attack Maria and asks her to stay focused.
The episode weaves a complex web of intrigue and betrayal as characters struggle to uncover the truth and protect themselves from the dangers that lurk around them.
At the same juncture, Angelo encounters Michael's new nurse and begins to harbor suspicions towards her. In private, he divulges Maria's pregnancy to Michael. Elsewhere, Nicky meets Maria at a yoga class and offers to assist in baby-proofing her house. Maria accepts and invites her over.
Meanwhile, Dutch keeps Stefanie captive and assaults her in an attempt to extract information. At Maria's house, Nicky discusses motherhood and surreptitiously tampers with the window security locks when Maria steps away. Dutch later informs Angelo that Stefanie is unaware of The Ferryman's identity. Shortly thereafter, Nicky calls Angelo and terminates their relationship, apologizing for her actions, leaving him bewildered.
Ironically, Angelo spots Linda leaving the FBI office and follows her as she meets Julia. Julia recognizes Angelo, raising Linda's concerns. Angelo realizes that Linda is Dr. Robert Parks' mother and informs Joe that she is indeed The Ferryman.
Later, a drunken Linda calls Angelo and blames him for Robert's death, referring to both of them as monsters. Despite this, Angelo empathizes with her and offers to help her uncover the truth, asking her to meet him.
Angelo brings Stefanie to Linda and prompts her to reveal the truth. Stefanie confesses that a company hired an assassin to kill Robert in order to prevent him from exposing a safety issue in his research. Linda is shocked and blames Stefanie. Angelo tells Linda that she can do whatever she wants with Stefanie. Ultimately, Linda kills her and warns Angelo that Michael and Maria are in danger and that he cannot save both of them.
On the way back, Angelo attempts to contact Maria but she doesn't answer. He reaches out to the medical facility and learns that Michael is at a concert. At the same time, Earl arrives at Maria's apartment and fires shots at the pillows on the bed. Maria emerges from hiding and confronts him with a gun, revealing that Nicky had warned her. Earl challenges her, and Maria shoots him. She calls 911, but Earl gets back up and tries to shoot her again. Fortunately, Angelo arrives in time and kills Earl before he can harm Maria.
Subsequently, Angelo visits Michael and learns that Dutch arranged for the nurse to protect him. Dutch informs Angelo that he is concerned about his safety as the episode concludes.
