Mercy for None – K-drama Episode 6 1

Later that fateful evening, Yeong-do finds himself squared off against Gi-jun, who lunges at him without warning. However, An Tae-hwan, the chairman's former employee recently freed from incarceration, steps in at a crucial juncture, engaging Gi-jun long enough for Yeong-do to make his escape behind the wheel.

Realizing that Ju-woon orchestrated the confrontation with Gi-jun, Yeong-do promptly phones Ju-woon, insisting that they must convene. As dawn breaks, Ju-woon prepares for a crucial board meeting, only to be intercepted by Geum-son who informs him that he, not Ju-woon, will be attending. Since his estrangement from Juwoon Group orchestrated by his father, Geum-son has been collaborating closely with Yeong-do. Ju-woon laments that he never intended such a trying existence for his son, to which Geum-son replies, his heart set on this path all along. With that, Geum-son and Seong-cheol depart, leaving Ju-woon behind, lost in thought.

Meanwhile, Yeong-do, having spent the night at the police station, contacts Tae-hwan, instructing him to pick him up in his car. Unbeknownst to them, Seong-won's men track the vehicle, relaying its location to Gi-jun.

During the Juwoon Group board meeting, the directors collectively rejected Geum-son, with one member storming out of the room only to have his screams echo through the office moments later. The remaining directors resumed their seats as Geum-son declared defiantly that he was not averse to taking drastic measures, unlike his father. Meanwhile, at his residence, Ju-woon retrieved a gun from a securely locked safe.

Gi-jun, tracking a car's location, confronted Tae-hwan head-on. Tae-hwan, his voice tinged with resentment, reminded Gi-jun of the opportunity he had squandered 11 years ago by merely disfiguring him instead of ending his life. Now, equipped with a prosthetic hand, Tae-hwan sought vengeance with renewed fervor. Although Gi-jun managed to stab him, it was Tae-hwan who, acknowledging his defeat, pushed the blade deeper into his own flesh.

Subsequently, Yeong-do arrived at Ju-woon's house, his intentions clear—to eliminate Ju-woon. Ju-woon, drawing his gun, faced Yeong-do, but the latter disarmed him swiftly, leading to a fierce struggle. Ultimately, Yeong-do prevailed, shooting Ju-woon.

The scene shifts to Gi-jun, who arrives at Ju-woon's residence to find his lifeless body slumped in a chair. Suddenly, Yeong-do and fellow officers burst in, arresting Gi-jun amidst the chaos. A brief flashback reveals that Geum-son had overheard plans for his father's murder through a bug planted in his father's room.

At the police station, Yeong-do confronted Gi-jun, confessing to his role in orchestrating Gi-seok's murder. Later, during his transfer, Gi-jun sensed something amiss and launched an attack on the officers, causing the vehicle to crash.

Crawling out of his concealment, Seong-won soon crosses paths with Gi-jun. Seong-won conveys that Yeong-do had tasked him with cleaning up the scene where Gi-jun’s life came to an abrupt end. Instead, he hands Gi-jun a disposable phone, Ju-woon’s pipe, and allows him to depart, even confiding that he plans to flee the country in the near future.

Back at his abode, Geum-son plays for Seong-cheol the damning recording of Yeong-do’s involvement in Ju-woon’s demise. Seong-cheol, hot-headed and vengeful, is eager to confront Yeong-do immediately. However, Geum-son devises a more cunning strategy. Leveraging his position as a prosecutor, he issues a warrant for a thorough search and seizure of Yeong-do’s office.

An alert member of Yeong-do’s inner circle phones him with a dire warning to steer clear of the office. Yeong-do, frantic, dials Geum-son who coldly reveals the truth: he knew about Yeong-do’s murder and planned to have him killed.

Meanwhile, Geum-son orchestrates an encounter with Kaneyama, the Japanese assassin who terminated Gi-seok’s life. It transpires that Interpol has him in their sights, and Yeong-do had granted him a new identity in exchange for his ruthless services. Geum-son dangles a carrot of unfettered freedom if Kaneyama eliminates Gi-jun.

Elsewhere, one of Yeong-do’s loyalists retrieves a mysterious package from a golf club and makes his way to Yeong-do’s secret lair.

A nostalgic flashback to eight months prior reveals Geum-son approaching Yeong-do with an ominous revelation: internal affairs had been meticulously constructing a case against him. Geum-son offers to squash the whole ordeal if Yeong-do sides with him.

Geum-son harbors ambitions to unify Juwoon and Bongsan, sitting atop the throne of power. His meticulously crafted plan involves orchestrating Gi-seok’s murder, framing Jun-mo, and igniting a bloodthirsty war between the two factions. As he exits, Yeong-do is seen surreptitiously recording their entire conversation. He slyly inserts the incriminating footage onto a flash drive, which he strategically places within a package at his golf club, marking the climactic end of Mercy for None Episode 6.
