When Good Detective Kang Pil-gu gets renewed for a fifth season, Hyeon-jun insists on doing something new. But the problem is he hasn’t received many other offers. While on a flight, Hyeon-jun sits next to a man named Lee Jae-hyeong. Another passenger asks Jae-hyeong for an autograph, so it’s clear he has fans too.

At work, Jeong-sin gets assigned to the K-pop section. Her first assignment is to get an interview with a pop star named Ga-i, who is returning from the US. Jeong-sin ends up getting pushed around in the crowd of fans and reporters. She sees Hyeon-jun nearby and asks for help but CEO Hwang pulls him away.
Later, when Ga-i’s bodyguards push one of the girls to the ground, Jeong-sin stands up for her. Lee Jae-hyeong sees this and helps Jeong-sin gather her things. She then runs off to get her interview but leaves her ID card behind.
Elsewhere, Hyeon-jun asks Park Byeong-ki — who is now working in the writer’s room for Kang Pil-gu — to refuse to write more scripts. However, Byeong-ki recently took a loan so his hands are tied.
Back home, Jeong-sin’s little brother Hong-sin tells her how famous Hyeon-jun is (she recognised him at the airport). Jeong-sin blames Hyeon-jun for her transfer and decides to find dirt on him. At work the next day, she takes responsibility for an interview with Hyeon-jun. Elsewhere, Lee Jae-hyeong reunites with his mother. He turns out to be the new CEO of Sports Eunseong.
Jeong-sin arrives for her interview with Hyeon-jun, who recognises her and suspects she’s only pretending to be a journalist. He’s soon proved wrong and forced to go ahead with the interview. He then realises she hasn’t watched the show and plays a trick to expose her. Jeong-sin is furious and enlists her brother’s help to find dirt on him. In the meantime, we also learn that Hyeon-jun’s little brother, Sun-woo, turns out to be Hong-sin’s friend. However, Hong-sin is unaware of this connection.
Jeong-sin and her brother uncover evidence that Hyeon-jun was romantically involved with a co-star named Jin Su-a, information dating back three years. Jeong-sin hesitates to share this publicly, but Hwa-yeong publishes it regardless, further infuriating Hyeon-jun. During a ceremony where Hyeon-jun is honored for his donation to the police department, he single-mindedly targets Jeong-sin, forcing her to leave the room in front of everyone.
In response, Jeong-sin pens a series of articles criticizing Hyeon-jun, which elicits a torrent of hate mail from his fans. To Hwa-yeong's delight, this seems to be exactly what she wanted. CEO Hwang, concerned about Hyeon-jun's image, arranges a meeting between the two parties. Both Hwang and Hwa-yeong apologize for their colleagues' actions, but Hyeon-jun and Jeong-sin continue to clash. Hwa-yeong points out that Jeong-sin would not have acted so impulsively in the political department.
On the way home, CEO Hwang receives a promising call from renowned director Kim Cheol-ho, who invites them to a football match. Hyeon-jun pretends to be less skilled at the game to please the director, only to realize after the game that Kim was offering him a role as a thug rather than the lead.
At home, Jeong-sin dives into watching Good Detective Kang Pil-gu and ends up binge-watching the entire series. Meanwhile, Hyeon-jun grows increasingly angry with her due to the director being influenced by her articles. The next morning, still dazed from her binge-watching, Jeong-sin is surprised to see Hyeon-jun waiting outside her workplace. When he asks if they can speak, Jeong-sin is momentarily starstruck.
