The fifth episode of "Nice to Not Meet You" commences with Se-na boldly announcing her intention to join the cast of Kwon Pil-gu's project to Hyeon-jun, who panics and vocalizes his reluctance to work alongside her. Se-na, with a sincere heart, explains her feelings for Hyeon-jun and her desire to make amends for her past actions.
Meanwhile, Jeong-sin is conducting an interview with a celebrity, and upon returning to the office, she finds herself chatting with Jae-hyeong about the upcoming baseball game where Hyeon-jun will be throwing out the first pitch. Their conversation leads to a decision to attend the game together, a plan that Hwa-young overhears with interest.
Se-na's determination to follow Hyeon-jun's career path is unwavering. She professes her desire to start anew with him, and although hesitant at first, Hyeon-jun eventually agrees under certain conditions: no romantic storyline with Se-na, a limit of five scenes per episode, working exclusively with the second unit director (excluding Park Byeong-ki), and this being Hyeon-jun's final portrayal of Kang Pil-gu.
The day of the game arrives, and Hyeon-jun is diligently practicing his first pitch when Jae-hyeong approaches with advice. Mr. Hwang and Jeong-sin arrive shortly after, their interaction hinting at Jae-hyeong's former fame as a baseball player. Hyeon-jun seems uneasy by the camaraderie between them, responding in monosyllables during Jeong-sin's interview. She cuts the interview short and joins Jae-hyeong, who teases about taking her out for dinner if his team wins – only to reveal he's rooting for both teams.
As Hyeon-jun delivers his pitch with grace, Jeong-sin finds herself momentarily enchanted by his charm. However, a call from Soo-jung interrupts her thoughts, and she rushes off to meet her at a cafe. Soo-jung is in tears, begging Jeong-sin to forget about the video incident. She reveals that a colleague tried to blackmail the man in the video and received a large sum of money but was later threatened by him. As a result, Soo-jung hasn't been able to contact her friend for several days. Furthermore, Soo-jung discloses that Lee Dae-ho, the chairman of Eunseongilbo, was also involved in the matter.
In truth, he appeared to be in a romantic entanglement with Se-na! Back at home, Jeong-sin spots a horse-shaped pin on Dae-ho's coat during the award show footage, a pin identical to the one worn by the man in the footage sent by Soo-jung. Moreover, Dae-ho is Jae-hyeong's older sibling.
In Se-na's apartment, Dae-ho arrives with a clear message that they cannot break up, even if she desires it. He also rejects the idea of obtaining a divorce from his wife. Following the game, Hyeon-jun snatches Jeong-sin's phone number from Mr. Hwang. While waiting for an elevator, he encounters his neighbors, who mention the revelation that Ae-suk is Hyeon-jun's mother, triggering a panic attack later on.
Hyeon-jun visits the psychiatrist and inquires if dating will help him. She replies that it will only work if his love is reciprocated. As a result, Hyeon-jun embarks on several blind dates, but all these women seem more captivated by his fame or Kang Pil-gu's charm.
Dejectedly returning home, he discovers his brother using his phone to download the Onion app, a platform for selling goods. Seon-u wishes to use the app to sell the rice cookers Hyeon-jun received as a gift. Later, someone messages Hyeon-jun on the app inquiring about a discount on the rice cooker.
While at a shoot for an ad, Se-na calls Hyeon-jun and thanks him for agreeing to do the show. The shoot extends far beyond expectations, and Hyeon-jun rushes out because he desires to make it in time for dinner with Mr. Hwang and Jeong-sin. He wants to give Jeong-sin an exclusive on the news about Kang Pil-gu Season 5.
However, Hwang is forced to leave, and the restaurant soon closes. Jeong-sin takes him out for ramen by the riverside instead. There, he tells her that Kang Pil-gu Season 5 is confirmed and that Se-na is joining the cast. Hyeon-jun finally apologizes for assuming Jeong-sin was a hostess. However, she does not accept it and tells him she does not want his apology. Hyeon-jun calls Mr. Hwang back to get him home. After they arrive, Hyeon-jun presents Hwang with the keys to a new car as a gift for Hwang's wife's birthday.
Jeong-sin returns home and discusses the situation with her brother without mentioning Hyeon-jun's name. She says she did not accept the apology because it would lead her to expect more. Hong-sin observes that she is simply erecting walls and will remain alone if she continues this behavior.
The next day, Seon-u has to attend a friend's grandfather's funeral. He instructs Hyeon-jun to meet with the rice cooker buyer in his place. Of course, the buyer turns out to be none other than Jeong-sin herself. Although both of them have their faces covered, Jeong-sin tells him that she is a fan of Hyeon-jun and admits that she likes him.
