Only Murders in the Building – Season 5 Episode 6 1

Mabel proposes that Oliver pay Lorraine a visit, sensing an opportunity to gather clues, and Loretta, eager for a distraction from her own misfortunes, volunteers to accompany him. Meanwhile, Donna shows up to retrieve the severed finger from Charles, only to discover it's gone missing. Charles hastily assures Mabel and Donna that he's not involved in any online dating escapades, especially after the ordeal with Sofia.

Donna, undeterred by the missing finger, suggests they scour the building's security footage for answers. Inside the elevator, Charles, Mabel, and Donna bump into Thé, who drops a cryptic hint about having witnessed someone lurking around the building the previous night. Donna, seeing an opportunity, tasks Mabel with chatting up Thé, her one-time confidante, to pry out what she's hinting at.

Across town in Brooklyn, Oliver finds himself unexpectedly transported back to his childhood—a period he often paints in rosy hues, though the reality was far less idyllic. Upon arriving at Lester and Lorraine's residence, they're met with the news that the house is on the market and Lorraine is packing up to leave. Loretta, ever curious, begins snooping around and stumbles upon Lorraine, leading to a heartfelt conversation about the demise of Lorraine's marriage to Lester.

Lorraine's emotional outpouring prompts Loretta to purchase an antique knife that Lorraine is trying to offload. Oliver, meanwhile, attempts to explore the house but finds himself distracted by memories of his tumultuous upbringing. The pair departs in a hurry, empty-handed in terms of clues, though Oliver does spot Lorraine heading off to deliver a bag to Sofia.

Seizing the moment, Oliver and Loretta tail Sofia and Lorraine. Back at the Arconia, Mabel and Charles, now joined by Thé and Donna, rendezvous with Howard in a bid to secure the security camera footage from outside Charles' room, hoping it will shed light on the events of the previous night.

Upon closer inspection, Mabel comes to a startling realization: Thé had indeed been telling the truth, for the CCTV footage had been expertly clipped. Donna, ever the mediator, urges Mabel to apologize to her old friend and set things right, while Charles and Donna embark on a mission to uncover the missing footage.

Meanwhile, Oliver and Loretta find themselves sidetracked, losing sight of Lorraine and Sofia in the process. Their wanderings lead them to the very theatre where Oliver had once tread the boards as a child, evoking memories of his formative years. In a moment of introspection, Oliver confides in Loretta, revealing that he only truly feels like himself when he's on stage or at the Arconia. He also shares that he's received a tantalizing offer for his apartment at the Arconia and is seriously considering it.

Loretta, ever the optimist, attempts to lift Oliver's spirits. Just then, Lorraine and Sofia reappear at the theatre. Oliver, seizing the opportunity, confronts them about the alleged murders of their respective husbands. The two women vehemently deny the accusations and disclose that they're collaborating on a play featuring child actors. Lorraine then drops a bombshell: Lester is working in tandem with Nicky to realize his lifelong dream of purchasing an apartment in the Arconia. Sofia chimes in, clarifying that she was merely assisting Lorraine and nothing more. Before departing, Lorraine leaves Oliver with a bird whistle, the last remnant of Lester's legacy.

In the meantime, Mabel seeks out Thé, and after a heartfelt exchange, the two friends apologize to each other for the insecurities they had harbored. Mabel then joins Donna and Charles to pay a visit to Oliver and Loretta. Oliver takes Mabel aside and confides that although he was planning to sell his Arconia apartment, he has no intention of severing their friendship, as he intends to remain nearby. Mabel, understanding and supportive, wishes him well.

That evening, the group pores over the security footage from the night of Lester's tragic fall into the fountain. They're taken aback to discover that this footage, too, has been tampered with. Curiously, Charles notices that the logo of a dating app he's been using to communicate with his new flame, Priscilla, is also present on the security cam footage. Mabel, ever the detective, deduces that the company behind the dating app is also responsible for editing the CCTV footage.

The episode culminates in a shocking revelation: Mabel, Donna, and Charles uncover that Bash is not only the owner of the dating app and the company responsible for the footage manipulation but also the person masquerading as Priscilla to gather intelligence on the case.
