In the seventh episode of Our Universe, Hyun-jin returns home to find an intruder and lets out a scream. Yoon-seong joins her and they both encounter an older man in the house. He apologizes and introduces himself as Woo-jin's father, explaining that the door was open when he arrived.
Meanwhile, Tae-hyung, who heard Hyun-jin's scream on the phone, rushes home and fusses over her. However, he doesn't recognize his father, who bursts into tears and apologizes for being too late to see his son after over 20 years. Tae-hyung treats him coldly and asks him to leave.
Yoon-seong is still concerned about the break-in at Hyun-jin's house, since the thief must have come before Tae-hyung's father. But she tells him to leave anyway. Hyun-jin then picks up Woo-joo from the neighbor's house. When she returns, Tae-hyung notices a scrape on her hand and wraps it up for her.
A flashback reveals that Tae-hyung's father ran away because he owed a lot of money, leaving his children behind. In the present, Tae-hyung meets his father again and suggests they live their separate lives.
At work, Hyun-jin's team learns that their GloMarket project has been selected as BS Food's core project. After work, Yoon-seong and Hyun-jin pick up Woo-joo from daycare. They go home, where Yoon-seong changes the locks on the front door. They share a moment that is interrupted when Tae-hyung comes home from work. As he leaves, Yoon-seong warns Tae-hyung not to hurt Hyun-jin, making it clear that he suspects his father.
Later, Tae-hyung admits to his friend that the house he lives in is starting to feel like home, unlike his experience at home during his childhood. Over the next few days, Tae-hyung's father helps the residents of the apartment complex and earns a good reputation among them, while trying to get a glimpse of Tae-hyung in the process.
He crosses paths with Hyun-jin and Woo-woo, initiating a conversation that reveals Tae-hyung's reluctance to see him. Hyun-jin attempts to bridge the gap with Tae-hyung, but he refuses to forgive either his brother or his father, accusing them of abandoning him and blaming Hyun-jin for not standing by his side. The next day, Hyun-jin's team faces a setback when they discover that a rival company, Hanbi Food, has submitted a strikingly similar proposal to GloMarket. Rumors quickly spread throughout the office, accusing Hyun-jin of leaking the proposal due to her contractual status. Yoon-seong finds her crying on the roof and offers words of encouragement.
They continue working on their pitch and collaboration with Tae-hyung for the project's visualization. However, Tae-hyung overhears colleagues gossiping about Hyun-jin, further straining their relationship. At a meeting with higher-ups, Yoon-seong's boss orders him to assign the GloMarket pitch to a more experienced employee from another team instead of Hyun-jin. Yoon-seong suggests a pitch competition to determine who is better, and everyone agrees.
Meanwhile, Tae-hyung's father continues to help the apartment residents, while Tae-hyung continues to ignore him. That night, Hyun-jin works late and Yoon-seong drops her off at home. In the car, he offers his support, but Hyun-jin insists on proving her own skills. Since Hyun-jin isn't picking up her phone, Tae-hyung and Woo-joo come down to see her. In front of them, Yoon-seong tells Hyun-jin that they should go on a date once this project is over.
Back in the apartment, Tae-hyung reminds Hyun-jin of his feelings and expresses his support. Hyun-jin decides to focus on her project rather than the two men vying for her affections and works tirelessly over the next few days. One day, Hyun-jin tells Tae-hyung about the workplace gossip, and he becomes angry on her behalf. He invites her to join him on a photoshoot where she can test the pitch's central dish (teokkbeokki) on its target audience—foreigners. However, they struggle to find a babysitter for Woo-joo. As a last resort, Tae-hyung agrees to let his father look after Woo-joo.
At the photoshoot, Hyun-jin is impressed by Tae-hyung's work. After the shoot, she offers teokkbeokki to the models, all of whom are foreigners, and conducts interviews to gather their feedback. After the shoot, it starts raining, and the two run until they find shelter. Tae-hyung tells her that while he can't be her umbrella, he can definitely stay by her side until the rain stops. In turn, she tells him that she will always be on his side.
The next scene brings us to the pitch competition. Hyun-jin's presentation goes well, particularly thanks to the videos of foreigners describing how much they loved the teokkbeokki. Her team wins the pitch! She shares the good news with Tae-hyung, who goes out to buy cake with Woo-joo.
Hyun-jin is on her way home when it starts raining. Yoon-seong arrives in time, holding an umbrella above her head. He stands by his earlier promise and, now that the project is over, tells Hyun-jin that he likes her.
