Episode 8 of Our Universe begins with Yoon-seong confessing his feelings for Hyun-jin. Meanwhile, Tae-hyung prepares a cake to celebrate Hyun-jin's work victory. However, he's devastated when Hyun-jin calls to say she'll be late because she's having dinner with Yoon-seong. During their dinner, Yoon-seong proposes that Hyun-jin go on three dates with him before deciding how she feels. After the meal, they decide to go on another date the next weekend. At work, Yoon-seong confides in a colleague that Hyun-jin (without mentioning her name) has been uneasy since his confession. In the cafeteria, Hyun-jin unburdens herself to Se-yeon, describing the confessions she received from both men. She says she can be her most honest self with Tae-hyung, but Yoon-seong's perfection encourages her to be better. Se-yeon advises her to wait and let her heart lead the way.
Back home, Hyun-jin is pleasantly surprised to see the cake Tae-hyung got for her, and he finally gets the chance to congratulate her. After work the next day, Tae-hyung goes to Ms. Park's house to pick up Woo-joo and is surprised to find his father there as well, who gives him a box of carefully selected juice for Woo-joo. That evening, a woman from an insurance agency visits the house to inform Hyun-jin about the payout from Hyun-joo and Woo-jin's deaths. Hyun-jin gets upset and rushes out of the house. Tae-hyung follows and tells her not to bottle up her feelings. She cries and he hugs her.
At work, Yoon-seong's team signs a contract with GloMarket. That weekend, he and Hyun-jin go on their second date, heading out to the beautiful countryside. She asks him why he chose to work at BS, and he says he wanted to make sure that even cheap food tastes really good and leads to happy memories. She says she did so for the same reason. When Hyun-jin returns to work, Se-yeon tells her that she's the frontrunner for turning her role from a contract position into a permanent one. She insists on celebrating and invites Tae-hyung and his colleague Oh Seung-taek as well since they're at the BS office for the collaboration. All four of them go out for dinner and have a few beers. A few sparks fly between Se-yeon and Seung-taek as well. Back home, Ms. Park and her son Du-sik host a barbecue dinner for Woo-joo, some other kids, and Tae-hyung's father.
As they made their way home, Hyun-jin began to feel a bit under the weather, and Tae-hyung, noticing her discomfort, massaged a spot on her hand, his gentle touch and kind gaze helping to ease her woes. However, their tranquility was disrupted by a call from Ms. Park informing them that Woo-joo had developed a rash. They rushed over to find that Tae-hyung's father had recognized it as a strawberry allergy and had taken care of it promptly. It turned out that Woo-jin, Tae-hyung's late brother, had suffered from the same allergy.
As they were leaving, Tae-hyung's father dropped his wallet, and Tae-hyung went back to retrieve it. Inside, he found a picture of himself, his father, and Woo-jin as children. The image gave him a surge of energy and reminded him of the bond they once shared. However, that night, Tae-hyung found it difficult to sleep, and Hyun-jin kept him company, offering a shoulder to lean on.
The next morning, Hyun-jin took Woo-joo to the hospital for a check-up, and thankfully, everything was fine. On her way home, she encountered Tae-hyung's father, who asked for her help. Back at their home, Hyun-jin suggested that they invite Tae-hyung's father over for dinner to thank him for his assistance with Woo-joo. He agreed, and they invited him over for a meal.
While Hyun-jin was changing Woo-joo's diaper, Tae-hyung confronted his father about why he had abandoned him. His father explained that he had returned after a while but was told by Woo-jin that Tae-hyung didn't need a father like him. He claimed that Woo-jin wanted them all to live separate lives and not drag each other down. Since he was already drowning in debt, he chose not to find Tae-hyung. Tae-hyung was touched by his father's apology and gave him the code to the door lock so he could take care of Woo-joo from time to time.
Hyun-jin overheard everything and wondered about it. A flashback showed her talking to Woo-jin a few days before he died. He told her that he could understand why Hyun-joo always put her younger sister because he would feel the same way for his own sibling.
Meanwhile, Du-sik spoke to some police officers who said that the neighborhood thief had been caught. However, he refused to admit breaking into 206, Hyun-jin and Tae-hyung's flat. This was curious because Du-sik recalled Tae-hyung's father saying he saw the thief and even testified against him.
Elsewhere, Hyun-jin went to the insurance company where she learned that a middle-aged man had been inquiring about the payout, claiming to be a guardian. She went home and saw Tae-hyung's father returning from the daycare with Woo-joo. She started to suspect him but didn't say anything. However, the next scene confirmed that Tae-hyung's father was not who he was pretending to be. He made a call and assured someone that he would be getting the money soon.
The next morning, Hyun-jin was on her way to work when she remembered she had left the stove on and rushed back. In the meantime, Tae-hyung's father had already entered the house and searched the unused bedroom, looking for something. He finally found a pouch with a tiny glass bottle. By then, Hyun-jin returned and was relieved to see that the stove was off. But she heard a noise from inside the bedroom and opened the door - just as Tae-hyung's father got ready to attack her.
