After a fleeting nostalgia-tinged montage revisiting our childhood dreams, Episode 7 of "Our Unwritten Seoul" unfolds with Mi-rae and Se-ji sharing a tender moment amidst a raging storm. However, the budding romance is abruptly derailed by Mi-rae's stomach emitting an embarrassing growl. While this humorous interruption passes, Mi-rae discovers documents revealing Se-ji's true identity as the renowned Han Se-jin of Ihan Asset Management. A figure whose name echoes loudly in financial circles, Se-jin is precisely the kind of high-profile individual Mi-rae is well-versed in. She raves about his prowess, the whispers surrounding him, and his unparalleled excellence in his field.
Yet, whispers also persist about his formidable talents and the mysterious circumstances behind his resignation. Se-jin vows to unravel this enigma for her within a matter of days. Conversely, Se-jin yearns to delve deeper into Mi-rae's own complexities, but she remains a somewhat inscrutable page in his life's book.
Elsewhere, Ho-su finds himself ensnared in a thorny dilemma. During negotiations, Ho-su steadfastly stands by Ro-sa, categorically refusing to even entertain Chung-gu's offers, his resolve unwavering. He senses there's more to Chung-gu's urgency than meets the eye and is determined to uncover the truth. Chung-gu, too, questions Ho-su's motives, vowing that ultimately, his will shall prevail. Ho-su, aware of Chung-gu's inflexibility, eventually stumbles upon what seems like a damning piece of evidence later in the episode.
Meanwhile, Chung-gu embarks on his own investigation, uncovering that Ro-sa's life has been marked by solitude, having grown up in an orphanage with no known relatives save for a son. Tragedy struck when her husband was fatally wronged by Sang-wol, a fellow orphanage mate who faced trial for domestic violence. Though granted leniency due to Ro-sa's testimony, Sang-wol has since passed away, leaving a trail of unresolved mysteries and emotions in his wake.
This intricate scenario could very well be intertwined with the profound reluctance of Ro-sa to part with her possession. Meanwhile, Mi-ji's uncomfortable coffee rendezvous with Ho-su is abruptly halted when Ji-yun sends a message requesting a meeting. However, before Ji-yun arrives on the scene, Mi-ji finds herself confronted by an unfamiliar woman, who scolds her for still being at work. This woman turns out to be the spouse of Park Sang-yeong, a figure whose name has been subtly associated with whispers of improper workplace conduct for several episodes, flickering like shadows in the background.
The rumors themselves assert that Mi-rae, under a cloud of suspicion, was entangled in an illicit affair with her superior. Tragically, the scandal erupted into a fierce altercation in the company's lobby when Park's wife discovered the alleged affair. These rumors spread with the fervor of wildfire, leaving no one fully informed yet captivating everyone's attention. This scandal could very well be the underlying reason behind Mi-rae's contemplation of suicide at one harrowing moment.
Park Sang-yeong's wife intimidates Mi-ji, mistaking her for Mi-rae, until Ji-yun arrives and unravels the twins' closely guarded secret. It transpires that Ji-yun has been meticulously testing Mi-ji throughout this entire ordeal, finally piecing it together when Mi-ji remarked that Ji-yun sounded mature in Ro-sa's basement. Despite acknowledging that this isn't Mi-rae, Ji-yun remains tight-lipped about whether Ho-su is privy to this revelation, though it is patently obvious that he indeed knows.
Ho-su uncovers the so-called "affair," which was orchestrated as an accusation of sexual assault until Mi-rae, concerned about the ramifications of gossip, withdrew her complaint. He arrives to confront Mi-rae, who is posing as Mi-ji, desperate for the truth. However, their conversation is cut short when their mothers erupt into a physical altercation in the stairwell, leading to an unfortunate hospital visit.
Frankly, Kim Ok-Hui bears much of the blame here, as she harshly labels Ho-su a burden. Vowing vengeance against Bun-hong after a hair-pulling scuffle, the entire incident reveals a triviality that's hard to overlook.
Outside, an awkward encounter ensues when Mi-ji and Mi-rae unexpectedly cross paths with Ho-su and Se-jin. Se-jin, in an attempt to ease the tension, invites everyone out for a meal. As they delve into the facts, the conversation becomes a minefield for the twins.
It's only after they finish eating that Mi-rae decides they must switch back immediately, dropping the bombshell that Ho-su is already aware of their switch. This revelation makes their earlier coffee meeting, where she poured out Mi-ji's feelings, seem all the more comical in hindsight.
At the strawberry farm, Mi-rae bids Se-jin a roundabout farewell, utterly underestimating his life experience. She shares her struggles with balancing work and family responsibilities, unaware of his own challenging past.
During their conversation, Se-jin recounts an incident involving his grandfather, who ignored his pleas to make a critical business decision that was literally a matter of life or death. Ironically, this decision also proved fatal for his grandfather, who succumbed to heatstroke on the farm.
When Se-jin lost his grandfather, he felt utterly shattered, his world crumbling around him. It was this heart-wrenching loss that prompted his resignation, though the whirlwind of rumors swirling around him remained inconsequential. Nevertheless, he steadfastly honored his grandfather's memory in every way he could.
Later, Mi-rae and Ho-su had a heart-to-heart, clearing the air between them, while Gyeong-gu did the same with Mi-ji, their bond deepening over his newly acquired tattoo. They delved into Ho-su's feelings for Mi-ji and her dilemma: whether to confess her own sentiments now or wait for a more opportune moment. Gyeong-gu, playing the role of a matchmaker with relish, sensed Ho-su's true emotions when he abruptly visited Mi-ji that night. Determined to unite them, Gyeong-gu gently reminded Ho-su that perfect timing does not exist, patting himself on the back afterward for his profound insight!
Elsewhere, Mi-rae mustered the courage to draft her resignation letter. As she wrote, she realized the need to postpone their role switch for a while. She confessed her struggles with self-doubt, grappling with the imposter syndrome that made her question her own adequacy.
Letting go of this job resonated deeply with Mi-ji, who had experienced a similar sentiment when her athletic career abruptly ended. She was not merely starting anew; she was also coming to terms with the fact that she might never find something as fulfilling or significant as her previous role. This revelation shed light on her inner turmoil and the prolonged suffering she had endured.
Meanwhile, Ok-hui received a call from Wol-Sun, filled with concern for her well-being. But, she chose to ignore it, hanging up abruptly.
As the episode drew to a close, Ho-su, summoning his courage, led Mi-ji outside and finally confessed his feelings for her, taking the plunge that had long been on his mind.
