"Retirement? Not in this line of work. Who retires, indeed?" Saban Films has unveiled an official trailer for "Bang," an unremarkable yet quintessential action thriller helmed by Thai auteur Wych Kaosayananda (alias Wych Kaos), renowned for his obscure yet prolific genre offerings. This one, too, might slip under the radar for many. Scheduled for a Video-On-Demand release this summer for those seeking it out, the film, however, appears scarcely worth the effort.

The narrative follows a merciless assassin who, after narrowly dodging a lethal assassination attempt, betrays his gang in pursuit of redemption, only to find himself ensnared as the next target. Bang, a name that strikes fear into many, begins to question his life of violence after brushing with death. Envisioning a future beyond blood and gore, he yearns for an exit — yet his relentless crime boss isn't about to let him go without a fierce battle.

Starring Peter Weller, Jack Kesy, Tristin Mays, Kane Kosugi, and Bear Williams, "Bang" seems as uninspired and ephemeral as they come, scarcely meriting a watch unless one has an insatiable thirst for more hitman tales recycling the same worn-out plotlines. "Once a killer, now the hunted," summarizes the plight of Bang (Jack Kesy), who, after his brush with mortality, seeks solace from his violent existence. Envisioning a bloodless horizon, he seeks an escape — but his old boss isn't easily swayed.

Directed by Wych Kaosayananda, whose credits include "Fah," "Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever," "Angels," "Tekken: Kazuya's Revenge," "Zero Tolerance," "The Driver," "Paradise Z," and "One Night in Bangkok," "Bang" boasts a screenplay penned by Peter M. Lenkov and Ken Solarz. Produced by Scott Clayton, Tara L. Craig, Jordan Gertner, Jeffrey Giles, Peter M. Lenkov, Michael Lurie, and Adam Zachary Smith, the film is set to make waves in select US theaters and on VOD from July 11th, 2025. Will anyone tune in?
