Episode 8 of Outlander Season 8 commences with the solemn funeral of Fergus. A pregnant Marsali, burdened with the responsibility of their unborn child's future, accepts Percy's offer, using the funds to continue fighting for independence. Despite this, she and Jamie remain steadfast in their belief that Fergus is Jamie's son, no matter what.

Marion dispatches weapons, and Jamie and Bree discuss the advanced Ferguson rifles. Inspired by their conversation, Bree decides to create her own version of the Hall Rifle, much to the admiration of the men. Jamie is taken aback to learn that Frank once called Bree "Deadeye," and his book is dedicated to her. Jamie and Claire realize that Frank knew they would return to the 18th century. This explains why he taught Bree how to hunt and looked out for Jamie, ensuring he could protect their daughter. It also explains why Claire became a surgeon, giving her hope that she could save Jamie.
The Frank hallucination urges Jamie to prepare for the worst. Roger, Bree, and Buck work tirelessly on the weapons. Buck reveals that he left Geillis because she believed he was romantically interested in her. The stones sent him to 1980 to kill Rob Cameron before reuniting him with the MacKenzies.
Meanwhile, William runs away, and John and Amaranthus hope he can forgive them. William shows up at the Ridge, seeking comfort in Brianna's presence. He also enjoys a joyous reunion with Fanny, Rachel, and Ian but keeps his distance from Jamie. Roger, Bree, and Jamie devise a plan to lure him into going fishing with Jamie. Initially, it's a heartwarming moment as they reminisce about Helwater. However, things turn heated when Lord John is brought up, and Jamie defends him. William is upset that both his fathers kept secrets from him.
Claire stops William from leaving and, with some tough love, hints that this could be the last time he sees his father alive. William watches Jamie teach Mandy how to ride a horse and recalls their fond memories together.
Elsewhere, Fanny slaps a boy who claims that Jane will burn in hell for taking her own life. Rachel sends her to Roger, but Fanny questions her faith. William discovers Jamie training the militia, and Aaron and some free men join him as Ferguson has been troubling them. William is impressed by Jamie's leadership and they go hunting.
Alone, William apologizes for accusing Jamie and John of an affair. However, he hates that Jamie abandoned him. Jamie tearfully explains that he couldn't give William the life he deserved, and revealing their connection would condemn William. He is happy to see how John has raised William and apologizes for how the truth came out. At this, William cries and hugs Jamie.
Fanny decides not to attend Roger's ordination ceremony. Afterwards, Roger helps her warm up to the idea of a merciful God. He gives her hope that the sisters will meet again in heaven. While telling the story of Jane's cairn, Fanny finds a green gemstone. She feels a sting and it cracks before she hears buzzing (like that of Craigh na Dun).
At the end of Episode 8, Percy lures John, who is knocked out by the traitor, Captain Richardson.
