Episode 2 of Paradise Season 2 commences with Xavier flying the plane and encountering a violent hailstorm en route to Atlanta. Through the radio, he reaches out to anyone who might be listening. The relentless hail damages the plane, forcing Xavier to make an emergency landing. He manages to escape the wreckage but sustains an injury to his leg in the process.

A flashback transports us back to the secret service training center in 2004. Xavier sustains an injury during a training session. The doctor informs him that his kneecap is dislocated and prepares to manually reset it.
In the present, Xavier realizes that his kneecap is indeed dislocated. As he's about to treat himself, a child, Daniel, puts his hand over Xavier's mouth. He rummages through Xavier's bag and, when he sees others approaching, flees with Xavier's medical kit. A few seconds later, he returns with a stick for Xavier to use as a crutch. They hide as the raiders search the plane. As the hail intensifies, Daniel leads Xavier to a houseboat where he finds a group of other children. Xavier prepares to manually reset his kneecap and Daniel helps him time it with the thunder to avoid alerting anyone.
Another flashback shows Xavier in his hospital bed, being a bit of a nuisance to the nurse. In the bed next to him is Teri, who is studying for her microbiology exam before scoliosis surgery. Xavier asks her out on a date, and she tells him that she has big plans involving Brazil, WHO, and the NIH. Marriage and children are not part of her plans. But this doesn't deter Xavier, who is eager to keep talking to her.
In the present, Xavier wakes up after fainting from the pain in his leg. Daniel introduces himself and the others, including his friends and sister, although they don't speak much. Daniel explains that they were on their way to a tournament when the apocalypse hit, and they're currently in Arkansas. After the other children fall asleep, Xavier reads James and the Giant Peach to Daniel from his son's book.
He hears a noise outside and rushes to investigate. A raider holds him at gunpoint and interrogates him about his origin. When Xavier reveals that he's been tracking the children, the raider attacks him, and Xavier fights back, ultimately killing the raider. The children, who have been awakened by the commotion, bury the raider's body in the marshy ground. It's then that Xavier realizes he's been stabbed by the raider.
In the past, Teri's surgery has left her with a side effect that causes her to lose her eyesight. The doctor assures her it's only temporary, but she's naturally upset. Xavier keeps her occupied and assures her that she'll be able to see again. Even after he's discharged, Xavier returns to the hospital to lift her spirits. A few days later, she's finally able to see again. She asks him to come closer and kisses him. Meanwhile, we also see flashes of Link walking in a tunnel-like environment, although it's unclear why these shots are shown whenever Xavier is delirious from his injuries.
Now, Xavier wakes up again after passing out. But this time, the children have left with all his belongings, leaving behind only a photograph of his kids and an apology. He makes it back to the airplane before passing out again. Annie finds him there and takes him back home on her horse. When he wakes up this time, he's in Graceland. She tells Annie about Colorado and says he needs to go to Atlanta. But Annie, holding her - well, Elvis' - gun, says he's going to take her to Colorado.
